Muppets Theme Takes Over Deluxe Disney World Hotel
Miss Piggy has commandeered the lobby of one of Walt Disney World Resort‘s most iconic hotels, and she looks absolutely fabulous doing it.
The Long Road Back for the Muppets

It’s been a turbulent stretch for Muppets fans at Walt Disney World Resort, with the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D last summer marking a particularly painful chapter for theme park fans. The beloved Jim Henson attraction had anchored Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for decades before Walt Disney World Resort confirmed the area would be demolished to make room for Monstropolis — a new land built around the Monsters, Inc. (2001) door coaster concept unveiled at D23 Expo 2024.

Disney has since committed to preserving the Muppet*Vision 3D film through a VR headset experience, though that’s cold comfort for guests who made the pilgrimage to Disney’s Hollywood Studios specifically for the immersive theater experience.
Brighter days are ahead, at least. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closed on March 2, and the attraction is now being retooled as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, drawing inspiration from the Muppets Mayhem musical series.

Walt Disney World Resort has promised a summer 2026 reopening.
An Easter Surprise at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
With months still to go before the new coaster debuts, Walt Disney World Resort has given the Muppets an unexpected spotlight through its annual spring chocolate egg display tradition. This year, Disney’s Contemporary Resort drew the coveted Muppets theme, with the installation set up in the Deluxe Disney Resort hotel‘s lobby near Steakhouse 71.

Miss Piggy anchors the display as its unmistakable centerpiece, with Statler and Waldorf watching over the scene from their theater booth just behind her. Arranged in archways around the space are eight Muppet-themed eggs nodding to the opening of The Muppet Show — each one depicting a different character: Kermit the Frog, Beaker, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, the Swedish Chef, Fozzie Bear, Sam Eagle, Sweetums, and Animal. Every piece was handcrafted by Disney cast members.
WDW News Today shared a photo of the finished display on Facebook:
The eggs are scheduled to remain on display through at least Easter Sunday, April 6. Whether you’re a lifelong Muppets devotee or just passing through on your way to Magic Kingdom Park, it’s a detour worth making.
