‘Jurassic Park’ Film Series Will Continue Through Tie-in Media
The odds of seeing the Jurassic Park films return to theaters look slim.
Since 2015, the franchise has operated under the Jurassic World banner, and since then, the series has grossed $4.85 billion worldwide across four films.
Last year’s Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), directed by Gareth Edwards and led by Scarlett Johansson, contributed $869.1 million worldwide. Even with a new cast and creative reset that distanced itself from previous entries, the film retained the lucrative World name.

Jurassic World Has Overtaken the Park Era
The original Jurassic Park trilogy, anchored by Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic, defined an era. But the film series has belonged to World for a decade. And the rebrand didn’t just revive the series with the 2015 film — it expanded it. Animated shows like Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory extended the timeline of the newer films, while Universal Studios attractions, and other experiences have operated under the same banner.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the Park era has disappeared — it’s just shifted mediums.

A New Jurassic Park Installment Is Coming, but Not in Theaters
One confirmed installment that returns to the franchise’s golden age is Saber Interactive’s upcoming first-person action-adventure Jurassic Park: Survival, which revisits Isla Nublar in the immediate aftermath of the 1993 film, putting players inside the original continuity for the first time in decades.
It’s a significant return to that setting — just not on the big screen. Fans will assume the role of InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who has been left behind and must now use everything she can to outlast the island’s dinosaurs.
When studios find a banner that consistently delivers global box office returns approaching or surpassing a billion dollars, they tend to keep using it. Even when creative directions change, the branding stays.
Could a prequel or spinoff one day resurrect the Jurassic Park title for theaters? It’s possible. But at the moment, the franchise’s theatrical identity appears firmly rooted in World. The dinosaurs aren’t going extinct — but the marquee they’re marching under seems unlikely to revert anytime soon.
