‘Jurassic Park’ Series Will Abandon New Island Introduced in ‘Rebirth’

Jurassic Park: Survival may be marketed as a return to Isla Nublar, the main setting for the long-running franchise. But whatever happened to Isla Sorna?

Set a day after the events of the 1993 film, the upcoming game places players back inside the original park as Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist stranded after the evacuation.

Developed by Saber Interactive, the title promises a detailed recreation of Isla Nublar, from iconic locations like the Visitor Center to brand-new areas never seen in the films. Dinosaurs roam freely, systems are failing, and survival is anything but guaranteed.

But could the game also feature, in some shape or form, Isla Sorna, AKA Site B — an island that once carried the entire franchise on its back.

Isla Sorna wasn’t a footnote in Jurassic Park history. After the original film, the series abandoned Nublar completely, relocating the action to Site B for both The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001). As InGen’s original breeding ground, the second island was central to the science, ethics, and chaos of the franchise’s Park era.

But the island didn’t survive the Jurassic World rebranding. When the series relaunched in 2015, Isla Nublar reclaimed the spotlight, and Sorna quietly slipped out of sight.

Later films pushed even further — first to the mainland in Jurassic World Dominion (2022), then to the newly introduced Île Saint-Hubert in Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)— while Site B remained untouched.

Wider canon previously confirmed that many of Sorna’s dinosaurs were relocated to stock Jurassic World, but the island itself has never been revisited or even properly mentioned on screen. Its ecosystem, condition, and long-term fate are still unknown.

Although Jurassic Park: Survival is positioned as a Nublar-only experience, its format makes it an ideal candidate for expansion. A DLC chapter, surprise plot twist, or future sequel could plausibly shift the action to Site B.

For now, Isla Sorna remains off the map. But with Jurassic Park: Survival digging deeper into the franchise’s earliest timeline, the door is open — and Site B may finally be closer than it’s been in decades.
