Disney World Issues Notice Regarding Christmas at Magic Kingdom, Guests Locked Out of Park
Magic Kingdom Park has officially closed reservation access for Christmas Eve, effectively barring thousands of Walt Disney World Resort visitors from entering the Central Florida theme park on December 24. The announcement arrived Sunday, December 21, adding to previous capacity declarations for Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve—dates that rank among the busiest at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
Updated Availability Shows Limited Access

Walt Disney World Resort’s reservation portal reflects the current restrictions affecting various categories of guests who wish to celebrate the holidays at Magic Kingdom Park.
Non-Date-Based Ticket Restrictions
The theme park’s availability system now prevents non-date-based ticketholders from booking Magic Kingdom Park visits on December 24, 2025. This restriction applies to guests who purchased tickets without specific visit dates, requiring them to select park reservations prior to arrival.

Date-based single-park and Park Hopper ticket purchasers remain exempt from the reservation requirement system. For these guests, the reservation calendar doesn’t factor into their planning process.
While Magic Kingdom Park shows no availability for Christmas Eve among non-date-based tickets, the other three Walt Disney World Resort theme parks maintain open reservation slots. EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios continue accepting December 24 bookings for this ticket category.
Annual Pass Tier Complications

Walt Disney World Resort structures its Annual Pass program across four distinct tiers, each carrying different privileges and limitations during peak seasons. The Sorcerer, Pirate, and Pixie Dust Pass levels face blanket exclusion from Magic Kingdom Park beginning December 21, 2025, and extending through January 1, 2026. During this eleven-day window, holders of these three pass types are not permitted to visit the Magic Kingdom, regardless of reservation availability.
The Incredi Pass is the sole Annual Pass tier that permits Magic Kingdom Park access throughout the Christmas and New Year’s period. This top-level pass eliminates the blockout dates that restrict lower tiers during the year’s busiest weeks.

However, Incredi Pass privileges don’t guarantee entry during sold-out periods. Sunday’s update confirmed that Incredi Pass holders can no longer obtain park reservations for December 24 at Magic Kingdom. This sellout mirrors the situation for December 25, December 30, and December 31—dates that became unavailable to Annual Passholders several weeks prior.

Seven days within the holiday period still show reservation availability for Incredi Pass holders: December 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, and 29. However, given typical demand patterns for the week bridging Christmas and New Year’s, these remaining dates could reach capacity in the coming days.
Potential Workarounds
Some guests retain limited opportunities to access Magic Kingdom Park on Christmas Eve, despite the reservation lockout, although success isn’t assured.

Incredi Pass holders who secured reservations at EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park can Park Hop to Magic Kingdom after completing their initial park entry. Still, this privilege becomes meaningless if the Magic Kingdom reaches its physical capacity threshold, at which point even validated Park Hoppers may face potential rejection at the entrance.
Date-based ticket holders bypass the reservation framework completely. Guests whose Walt Disney World Resort theme park tickets include specific dates—arrangements frequently packaged with Disney Resort hotel stays—can attempt to enter Magic Kingdom on December 24 without pre-securing reservations. Capacity constraints remain the determining factor, potentially blocking entry regardless of ticket validity.
Managing Extreme Crowd Conditions

Guests committed to experiencing Magic Kingdom during this compressed holiday window should anticipate challenging park conditions. Special holiday programming, such as Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, attracts massive audiences, creating bottlenecks along parade routes and congestion throughout walking areas.
Preparation and strategy become crucial for tolerating peak-season visits. Arriving at the park opening provides advantages before crowds reach overwhelming levels. Mobile Order functionality streamlines food acquisition by eliminating counter service lines. Advanced Dining Reservations lock in guaranteed seating during preferred meal times. Lightning Lane purchases offer expedited access to attractions, although even these paid services typically sell out early during peak attendance periods.
