Disney Issues New Rules for Hotel Rooms, Will Take Rapid Action To Prevent Fires
One Disney destination is now asking guests to reconsider how and where they use certain items — and the request is tied to real safety risks.
Lithium-ion batteries, which power most portable chargers, have drawn increased scrutiny worldwide. In recent years, multiple transportation agencies have warned that overheated batteries can lead to smoke, flame, and rapid combustion. Airlines now prohibit loose lithium batteries in checked luggage for this reason.

Japan’s Consumer Affairs Agency and Fire and Disaster Management Agency have also released public safety alerts regarding overheating risks in mobile battery devices.
These warnings are not theoretical; overheating incidents have been reported in homes, transit, and hotels, often involving chargers stored under bedding or near heat sources.

In response, Tokyo Disney Resort has issued detailed guidance for guests staying at its onsite hotels, which include Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta (which kicks off a refurbishment next summer), Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel, and Tokyo Disney Celebration Hotel.
The resort notes on its website, “To ensure the safety and security of all our guests, we ask that you take the following precautions when using mobile batteries and other devices.”
Guests are asked not to use or store portable chargers in high-temperature or enclosed spaces. The Resort highlights areas of concern, such as windows in direct sunlight, bedding, curtains, and bags, where heat can accumulate unnoticed.

The resort also advises against charging devices while guests are out of their room or sleeping. Charging should only take place when the device is visible and actively monitored. If hotel staff observe unattended charging during housekeeping checks, they may move or disconnect the device for safety.
Tokyo Disney Resort emphasizes that this policy is intended to prevent overheating incidents before they occur and asks for guest cooperation and understanding.
