Hearing the words The Muppet Christmas Carol and “remake” in the same sentence is likely to anger any fan, but Chicago pop-punk rock band Fall Out Boy has unveiled its cover of the beloved song “It Feels Like Christmas” from the iconic 1992 film, made for the Spotify Singles Holiday series, Kerrang! has reported.
This is the latest in a growing trend of Christmas classics getting the grunge treatment. It follows Poppy’s version of “Last Christmas” by Wham! and The Pretty Reckless’ new rendition of “Where Are You Christmas?”, a song originally performed by the band’s frontwoman, Taylor Momsen, as the young Cindy Lou Who in the 2000 film, The Grinch.
Now, the Muppet Christmas Carol song is getting the guitar riffs, the drums, the works.
“Muppet Christmas Carol is possibly the greatest adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic story,” Fall Out Boy wrote on social media, captioned with a video of them putting the rock version together in the studio. “We always loved the music and we had a blast getting to put our stamp on a version of it.” Check the video out for yourself below:

The Muppet Christmas Carol remains the most celebrated musical film for the holidays. Not only do audiences continue to revisit it on Disney+ and in theatrical re-releases, it has its own live-orchestra screenings every winter in venues throughout the U.K. There’s also a sing-along version coming to the Prince Charles Cinema in London’s West End this year.
This isn’t the first time Fall Out Boy has tackled an iconic song from a major potion picture. In 2016, they reinterpreted Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters” alongside rapper Missy Elliott for the 2016 film reboot of the same name.
