Disney Silent as Jimmy Kimmel Faces Potentially Career-Ending Scandal

Disney is under intense scrutiny as calls grow louder for the firing of Jimmy Kimmel after his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. With critics insisting the late-night host crossed a line, Disney’s silence is quickly becoming part of the controversy.

Kimmel’s Comments Are Setting the Internet On Fire

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel accused Trump supporters of twisting the narrative surrounding Charlie Kirk’s murder.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel declared.

He then ridiculed Donald Trump’s response to Kirk’s death, quipping, “He’s at the fourth stage of grief, construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish.”

But reports contradicted Kimmel’s claims. According to The New York Times, the suspect, Tyler Robinson, was depicted in court filings as “a lone assassin with hardening left-wing, pro-L.G.B.T.Q. views that led him to violence… not a disgruntled member of the hard-right, white nationalist ‘groyper’ movement, as some on the left had insisted in recent days.”

Backlash Intensifies

The reaction has been explosive. Former West Virginia state delegate Derrick Evans accused Kimmel of lying to his audience, while other critics threatened lawsuits and boycotts. “People like Jimmy Kimmel must have their careers completely destroyed,” one user wrote. Another blasted Disney directly: “Hey ABC Network, we are demanding an on-air apology or you can cancel his show. Nothing else will do.”

Critics argue that Disney, by keeping Kimmel on the air, is endorsing dangerous misinformation. With the company already under political scrutiny, many say Disney cannot afford to ignore this firestorm.

A Deafening Silence From Disney

So far, neither Disney CEO Bob Iger nor ABC executives have commented on the scandal. That silence is drawing its own criticism, with some suggesting the company is hoping the outrage will fade. But the stakes are rising. Flags at Disney parks were flown at half-mast following a federal order honoring Kirk, underscoring the national weight of the tragedy while Kimmel’s jokes continue to echo online.

What’s at Risk

Observers say Disney’s inaction could turn this controversy into a career-ending scandal for Kimmel. With pressure mounting from politicians, viewers, and advocacy groups, the longer Disney stays quiet, the more it risks appearing complicit. In an era when teachers, professors, and other public figures have lost jobs for controversial remarks about Kirk’s assassination, critics argue there’s no reason Kimmel should be treated differently.

For now, Kimmel’s future—and Disney’s reputation—hangs in the balance.
