Content Officially Missing From Disney+ Lineup

Since Bob Iger stepped back into the CEO role at The Walt Disney Company, the rapid rollout of franchise television series has slowed noticeably. However, both Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm remain active players in Disney’s streaming portfolio. That said, fans recently took note of three previously confirmed series missing from Disney+’s newest promotional video.

Launched in late 2019, Disney+ quickly became a go-to destination for Disney fans, especially during the pandemic. The platform offers a robust catalog, from early classics like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) to contemporary originals such as The Mandalorian and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. Housing properties from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and more, the platform exemplifies the reach of the House of Mouse.

In its five years, Disney+ has undergone a number of shifts—subscription price increases, content removals, and now, potential structural overhauls. With Disney having secured full control of Hulu, the stage is set for one of the most significant evolutions yet: a possible merging of the two platforms.

2025 has already brought new programming to the service, including the return of Andor and the MCU’s latest installment, Ironheart. Now, at the year’s halfway point, Disney+ has released a new sizzle reel teasing what’s still to come. The lineup featured upcoming entries like All’s Fair from Ryan Murphy, Only Murders in the Building Season 5, Chad Powers starring Glen Powell, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, and Alien: Earth. But conspicuously missing? A trio of previously announced Marvel and Star Wars series.

One Marvel project did make the cut: Wonder Man, which appears briefly and is set to premiere this winter under the Marvel Spotlight banner.

Omitted entirely were three titles: Marvel Studios’ animated series Marvel Zombies and Eyes of Wakanda, along with Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Visions—Volume 3.

Despite the absence from the reel, Marvel Zombies—a spinoff of What If…?—is still slated for release on October 3. The four-episode series carries a TV-MA rating, similar to the mature tone of Daredevil: Born Again, also due this year. Eyes of Wakanda, another animated venture tied to Black Panther, is currently scheduled for an August debut and will drop all episodes at once. Developed by Ryan Coogler and created by Todd Harris, the series will be the first official TV title of Marvel Phase Six, following The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which hits theaters in late July.

On the Star Wars front, Andor Season 2 has been celebrated for its writing, acting, and structure, emerging as one of the most critically acclaimed series in the franchise. The series followed less warmly received entries like Skeleton Crew and the debated The Acolyte. Lucasfilm also recently released Tales of the Underworld, expanding its anthology offerings.

Also absent from the sizzle was Star Wars: Visions—Volume 3. Unlike other anthology series like Tales of the Jedi or Tales of the Empire, Visions tells stories outside official Star Wars canon. The third volume is still on track for release on October 29, 2025.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
