Crowd Takeover Reported at Disneyland, Park Locks Doors To Stop Chaos
On Monday, June 23, Disneyland Park (Paris) found itself caught in a major crowd surge as thousands of visitors flooded the park, overwhelming its capacity. According to a Disney Dining reporter on the scene, the first European Disney park began refusing entry at around 8:00 p.m. local time, as crowds packed Main Street, U.S.A., and other lands.
The influx of visitors seemed partly due to Fête de la Musique (World Music Day), with tourists flocking to the city for free music performances on June 21. Disneyland Paris has been holding its own version of the event, the Disney Music Festival, which runs from April 21 to September 7, 2025.
This festival features four live concerts, eight “musical encounters” with beloved Walt Disney Animation and Pixar characters, and music performances throughout the park in a range of genres, from classical to electronic music. Guests can enjoy musical pop-ups across Discoveryland, Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Main Street, U.S.A.
According to the Disney Dining team member at Disneyland Park, crowds had gathered around Main Street, U.S.A., to watch The Grand Orchestra Finale, a massive performance featuring nearly 90 artists. This grand finale brings together songs performed throughout the day at Disneyland Park.
While the specific cause of the overcrowding isn’t entirely clear, the park reached its capacity over two hours before closing at 10:40 p.m. Security was quick to act, refusing entry to any more guests. The scene at the park, especially near the main areas, quickly became chaotic, leading to the decision to halt further guest entry to maintain safety and prevent further congestion.
Disneyland Paris Resort encourages guests to plan ahead, especially during busy times like the Disney Music Festival. The park’s date-based ticketing system is meant to help guests manage their visits more effectively, ensuring entry to Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park on their preferred dates.
