Forget Magic Kingdom, the Hollywood Studios Villain Attraction Gets New Update
Get ready to step into a realm of wicked fun as Walt Disney World Resort prepares to unveil an all-new villainous experience! Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After is set to take the stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the wait is almost over.
Fans first learned of this thrilling new show when Disney announced the closure of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. In its place, a fresh, villain-focused spectacle would take center stage. Now, after months of anticipation, Disney has set the date—May 27, 2025—for this highly anticipated debut.
This theatrical production puts the spotlight on the infamous Magic Mirror from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, offering guests a chance to see some of Disney’s most legendary villains in an entirely new light.
“In this new show, the villains we love to loathe take center stage. To figure out who has been the most misunderstood, the Magic Mirror summons you (yes, you!) to help him decide who’s been the most unfairly treated,” Disney Parks Blog wrote earlier this week. “The likes of Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent step into the spotlight to make their case about why they’ve been treated the most unfairly over the years. Step into this mysterious realm, where Disney’s most infamous baddies finally get their chance to share their side of the story.”
As excitement builds, Disney has also unveiled a first look at the elaborate set design, a project two years in the making. The show will be performed multiple times daily, giving guests ample opportunity to be part of this immersive storytelling experience.
“You don’t need to wait for a cursed spindle, a litter of puppies, or your motley pirate crew for this wickedness coming soon. Just announced, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will cast a spell over Hollywood Studios this Summer, starting on May 27, 2025,” the blog post confirmed on March 26, 2025.
Alongside stunning new concept art, the Disney Entertainment and Disney Parks social media channels have provided a behind-the-scenes look at the real-world stage. A newly released video captures the moment Disney cast members carefully positioned the towering Magic Mirror—an adaptation of which was recently seen in Marc Webb’s live-action Snow White (2025)—at the heart of the stage’s design.
We’ve been hard at work completely transforming Sunset Showcase at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the all-new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.
From the mirror realm to the stage, find out once and for all…who has had the worst time as a villain?
This latest reveal arrives as Disney’s live-action Snow White continues to generate discussion. The film, starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, has been at the center of entertainment conversations. Notably, the Magic Mirror in the movie is voiced by Broadway star Patrick Page (Hadestown), adding yet another layer to this iconic character’s legacy.
That’s not all for May 27. Guests visiting Hollywood Studios on opening day will also have the chance to experience The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure, a vibrant new theatrical production that brings Ariel’s beloved tale to life in an exciting new way.
Meanwhile, even bigger changes are on the horizon for Hollywood Studios. The Grand Avenue area is set for a major transformation, as Monstropolis moves in to take over the spaces currently occupied by places such as Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. But Muppet fans, fear not—the beloved characters are set to make a new home over at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
And over at Magic Kingdom, Disney is dreaming even bigger. Plans are in motion for a massive expansion in the “Beyond Big Thunder” area, bringing a brand-new villains-themed land to life. While details remain scarce, Disney has confirmed that this will be one of the most ambitious additions in the park’s history.
