Disney fans have been eager for details ever since the permanent closure of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was announced last year. The replacement? A thrilling new show featuring Disney’s most notorious villains. Soon after, the title was revealed: Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After.

While it was known that the experience would debut in 2025, the exact date remained a mystery—until now.

“You don’t need to wait for a cursed spindle, a litter of puppies, or your motley pirate crew for this wickedness coming soon. Just announced, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will cast a spell over Hollywood Studios this Summer, starting on May 27, 2025,” Disney Parks Blog confirmed on March 26, 2025.

This brand-new stage production is a chance for Disney’s most infamous villains to take center stage and rewrite their own stories.

“In this new show, the villains we love to loathe take center stage. To figure out who has been the most misunderstood, the Magic Mirror summons you (yes, you!) to help him decide who’s been the most unfairly treated,” the blog post explained. “The likes of Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent step into the spotlight to make their case about why they’ve been treated the most unfairly over the years. Step into this mysterious realm, where Disney’s most infamous baddies finally get their chance to share their side of the story.”

Guests will have plenty of opportunities to see these legendary villains in action, with numerous performances scheduled throughout the day. Disney also shared an updated look at the intricate stage design, which has been in development for over two years by a dedicated team.

But that’s not the only major debut on May 27! Also arriving at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure, a brand-new stage show inspired by the beloved animated film.

And that’s just the beginning of the changes coming to the park. In the future, Hollywood Studios will bid farewell to the Grand Avenue area as it transforms into Monstropolis, featuring Monsters, Inc. attractions in place of locations like Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. Meanwhile, the Muppets will be making their mark on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

Looking ahead, Magic Kingdom is also set to welcome more villainous fun. As part of one of the largest expansions in the park’s history, Disney has announced a dedicated villains-themed land coming to the area known as “Beyond Big Thunder.” Specific details are still under wraps, but fans can expect more mischievous surprises in the years to come.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his… More »
