Disney+ Shocker: Popular Show Gets Season 3 Renewal Before Season 2 Drops!
In the ever-competitive world of streaming, few shows manage to break through with the kind of buzz that Percy Jackson and the Olympians has generated. With its mix of beloved source material, fresh faces, and an adventurous premise steeped in Greek mythology, the Disney+ series quickly became a fan favorite.
But now, as the show prepares for its much-anticipated second season, an unexpected announcement has sent waves of excitement through its fanbase.

It’s rare for a show to secure a third season before the second one even airs, but Disney+ has done just that with their hit series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Fans are celebrating the early confirmation that the series will continue past its upcoming Season 2, which is slated to debut later this year.
As Disney+ gears up for the release of Season 2 later in 2025, the network has already confirmed that production on the third season is underway. Based on the second book, The Sea of Monsters, Season 2 promises to take the audience deeper into the world of Greek gods, Titans, and demigods.
Meanwhile, the newly announced third season will dive into The Titan’s Curse, the third book in Riordan’s series, which is sure to bring even more high-stakes action and new characters to the screen.
The series, based on Rick Riordan’s beloved Percy Jackson novels, premiered to great fanfare in December 2023. Its success was immediate, resonating deeply with both fans of the books and newcomers to the story of a young demigod learning about his true heritage and navigating the dangerous world of Greek mythology.
The show’s renewal was confirmed by Disney in a statement to Variety:
“From the moment ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “With season two set to premiere this December, we’re thrilled to announce that Percy’s journey will continue with a third season. Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan’s world to life with such depth and imagination.”

Percy Jackson and the Olympians had already garnered high expectations, thanks to its dedicated fanbase and Riordan’s proven track record. After all, the original books have sold millions of copies worldwide, becoming an essential part of the young adult fantasy genre.
Following the show’s success in its first season, which covered the events of The Lightning Thief, Disney’s confidence in the series has grown even more.
The first season, which aired on Disney+ in December 2023, received praise for its fresh take on the beloved series. Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell, embarks on a journey to prevent the Titans from destroying the world, all while attending Camp Half-Blood, a sanctuary for demigods like himself.
The season finale, which aired on January 30, 2024, left fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Percy’s story.
The renewal for a third season comes as no surprise to many, as the show received a season two renewal just days after the season one finale aired. Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the decision during an earnings call in February 2024, citing the show’s success and the company’s commitment to continuing with the Percy Jackson saga.
As one of the most talked-about shows of the year, Percy Jackson and the Olympians has also sparked significant conversations about its portrayal of Greek mythology, casting choices, and the faithful adaptation of the source material.
“We’re so grateful to be continuing the story of Percy Jackson on Disney+,” Riordan himself shared. “This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It’s a huge sign of commitment from Disney, and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!”
Fans can expect the return of the main cast, including Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Additionally, new characters will be introduced, including Luke Castellan, played by Charlie Bushnell, and Clarisse La Rue, portrayed by Dior Goodjohn.
Season 2 will premiere later this December, but with Season 3 already in production, it’s clear that Disney+ has major plans for the future of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The story of Percy and his friends is just getting started, and there’s no telling what adventures lie ahead.
In the meantime, fans are encouraged to follow all updates from Disney and stay tuned for official announcements regarding casting and specific release dates for both the upcoming season and beyond.
