Iconic Character from 1993 ‘Jurassic Park’ Makes Comeback in New Sequel
The Jurassic Park saga isn’t just about blockbuster movies and theme park rides—it’s about survival, too. Enter “Jurassic Park: Survival,” the latest addition to the Jurassic universe. This first-person action-adventure game picks up 24 hours after the 1993 original film, bringing players back to Isla Nublar. You play as Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who finds herself stranded among the ruins of Jurassic Park. Now, it’s a race against time to survive and find a way off the island, all while evading some very hungry dinosaurs.
The trailer promises some very familiar dinosaurs, too, such as Tyrannosaurus Rex, Dilophosaurus, and Velociraptor. While the likes of human characters like Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm probably won’t show up, players might encounter “traces” of those who fell prey to the dinosaurs, like Dennis Nedry, Donald Gennaro, and Robert Muldoon.
Players will explore familiar locations from the original film, like the iconic Visitor Center movie theater, where Mr. DNA first charmed audiences. In fact, Mr. DNA is back, as revealed in a series of screenshots from the game that Universal and Saber Interactive shared via an internal Q&A with IGN earlier this year. But whether he’s there simply as a form of nostalgia-baiting, or to help guide players through Jurassic Park, remains to be seen.

The gameplay promises a mix of stealth, action, and resourcefulness. Players must balance keeping a low profile with searching for the resources needed to escape the island. And while we haven’t seen much in terms of gameplay footage yet (there are some brief moments at the end of the trailer), the developers teased plenty in the Q&A shared with IGN.
Whether you’re reliving the terror of a raptor-filled jungle or enjoying nods to classic scenes, “Jurassic Park: Survival” will likely have something for every fan of the franchise. Soon, it will be time to dust off those explorer hats and get ready for another adventure—because on Isla Nublar, the danger never truly went extinct.
While the release date for the game is still under wraps, it’s set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Until then, fans have plenty to look forward to in the broader Jurassic universe. For one, there’s Jurassic World Rebirth, the next film in the franchise, coming to theaters on July 2, 2025. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Jurassic series veteran David Koepp, the seventh Jurassic movie stars Marvel Cinematic Universe icon Scarlett Johansson and promises a new adventure with top-secret missions and new dinosaurs.
