The Cast of a Live-Action Version of Pixar’s ‘The Incredibles’ is Taking Shape
Moviegoers have had a long-standing love affair with superhero films. And though there are many from which to choose, few have enjoyed the success of Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar’s The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2. As Pixar’s highest-grossing film of all time, The Incredibles 2 seems destined for a sequel.
But because of the success of the superhero film, there’s even been talk of a live-action take on the story of the Parr family and their extraordinary abilities, and a cast for such a project is already taking shape.
Pixar’s ‘The Incredibles’ Franchise
The Incredibles, from director Brad Bird, debuted at the box office in November 2004 and was an instant hit. The animated film was only the sixth in Pixar’s portfolio, and though it did very well with fans, Pixar originally had no interest in producing the film as they felt it would be far too expensive to ever turn a profit. The studio made the right decision to proceed anyway.
It was the first Pixar movie to feature humans rather than animals, toys, and the like, and it was the first film that didn’t feature the Pizza Planet pizza truck hidden among its stellar animation. The Incredibles was extremely successful for Pixar, grossing over $630 million at the global box office.
The Incredibles 2 debuted almost 14 years later, in June 2018, and featured a new story and new characters, including a savvy business man named Winston Deavor. The superhero movie was nearly twice as successful as the original film, grossing $1.243 million at the global box office, making it Pixar Animation Studios’ most successful film ever.
The second film was edgier, darker, and included themes and elements not necessarily appropriate for younger children, and it kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Success Should Be Rewarded
Because of the second film’s exponential success, there’s been talk about a third installment in the franchise, though no official announcement has been made by Pixar execs just yet. The franchise’s success has also led to talk of a live-action project inspired by The Incredibles, even though Pixar has been very clear over the years that the studio only produces animated films, not live-action films.
But recently, one fan used Midjourney AI to ponder what characters from both Incredibles films would look like should Pixar agree to make a live-action version of the superhero films.
TikTok user @aiviking used Midjourney to create images of the different characters from Pixar’s Incredibles films, including Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible, Helen Parr, aka Mrs. Incredible, Violet Parr, Dash Parr, Jack-Jack, Edna Mode, Mirage, Syndrome, Lucius Best, aka Frozone, Bomb Voyage, and others.
