Dwayne Johnson Film’s Previous Record Has Officially Been Broken…Again
When it comes to someone as multifaceted as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, it’s a no-brainer to hear that the WWE Champion has broken some records in his time. Between his professional wrestling career and his success as an actor, Johnson has broken multiple records.

In 2015, Johnson broke the Guinness World Record for the most selfies taken in three minutes, taking over 100 selfies in only 180 seconds.
In the same year, Dwayne Johnson broke an incredibly exciting record: the Guinness World Record for the highest salary for a first-time leading man after starring in The Scorpion King.
That’s coming a long way from his appearance in The Mummy Returns (2001), starring Brendan Fraser.
Just one year later, the WWE Champion (which stands for ‘World Wrestling Entertainment’) broke another Guinness World Record, earning the title of the highest-paid actor for the year of 2016.

As it turns out, some records are less celebrated than others. You may remember DC’s Black Adam (2022) film starring Dwayne Johnson, but if the film has escaped your memory, we wouldn’t blame you.
This movie was, unfortunately, not very successful, earning a measly $393.3 million worldwide. As in, combining both international and domestic box office sales.
As a result, Black Adam flew its way onto streaming platforms after less than 60 days: 56, to be precise. That’s barely two months!
A New Hero Emerges…

Luckily for the former professional wrestler, a new hero has stepped forward to break Black Adam‘s unfortunate record.
Led by Ezra Miller, The Flash (2023) bombed spectacularly, earning only $268.5 million worldwide. But that’s not the record The Flash has broken…
Despite the film’s poor performance, The Flash will have “the longest gap between a DC film’s theatrical and streaming release,” according to a recent report, at 70 days.
This beats the two previous records, held by Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam and Zachary Levi’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023), which had a 67-day gap.

Even with James Gunn switching sides and going from the MCU to the DCU, a huge game plan is gonna be necessary to pull the studio out of the hole its dug for itself.
