Animal Kingdom is one of the most beautiful theme parks in the world. It is filled with lush greenery and amazing animals, and we just can’t get enough of it. One of the very first things you see when walking into this park is the Oasis. Many people rush through this area of the park, eager to see the big attractions. However, this is a big mistake. The Oasis actually has quite a bit to look at, and we really love meandering through as we enter the magical world of Animal Kingdom. Here are a few of our favorite things about this often overlooked land.

1. Rainforest Cafe
At the very front of the Oasis, on the left-hand side, there is an entryway to an absolutely amazing restaurant: Rainforest Cafe. This eatery has some delicious food of course, but more importantly, it has some serious theming going on. From the moment you walk into Rainforest Cafe you are immersed in a fictional rainforest where gorillas, elephants, and other exotic animals surround the tables full of diners, and rainstorms break out every half hour or so. An enormous fish tank is a huge attraction at this eatery, and the gift shop is full of super fun items. Best of all, while Rainforest Cafe does take reservations, it’s often possible to get a table without one. This is unusual for a table-service restaurant in Disney World, and perfect for those who prefer to be spontaneous.
2. Exotic Birds
No matter which path you decide to take through the Oasis, you are sure to spot some amazing birds. The flamingos are absolutely incredible to watch and tend to captivate visitors of all ages. Meanwhile, the macaws are tons of fun and often seem to interact with visitors through noises and looks.
3. Amazing Mammals
Besides birds, the Oasis is also full of really neat mammals. The exotic boar and giant anteater are both fun to watch, and the wallabies are super cute. Of course, the barking deer is pretty interesting to see as well, even if we never get to hear it bark.

4. Knowledgeable Cast Members
Looking at these animals is, of course, fun, but what makes it even more fun is learning about each species as you find it. Luckily, there are almost always knowledgeable Cast Members around to answer questions. Not only will these friendly staff members answer your questions, they will likely even provide more info than you asked for, making your visit to the Oasis very educational. Be sure to take time to stop and talk to these awesome people as you pass through. You’ll be glad you did!
5. Lush Greenery
Cool animals are fun to see, but the fact that Disney provides them with such awesome habitats is an even cooler thing to witness. These habitats are full of amazing, lush greenery. Not only is this great for the animals, it’s also great for us visitors, as it means we have plenty of shade and a lovely land to walk through as we enter Animal Kingdom. Take some time to really appreciate all of the plants in the Oasis. They are quite nice, and often provide great photo opportunities.
6. DiVine
Speaking of great photo opportunities, make sure to keep your eye out for DiVine while you’re in the Oasis. DiVine is an amazing vine-like creature who tends to roam Animal Kingdom and is often spotted in the Oasis. Because she is so plant-like, she blends in quite well, but seeing her move is an amazing experience. She loves to pose for photos, so strike a pose if you happen to see her and capture your rare sighting for all your friends to see.
7. Swinging Bridge
Along the path there is a swinging bridge which leads right into the mouth of a cool, dark cave. Kids love to walk on this swinging bridge, and adults appreciate the shade found within the cave. The benches provided there are also nice, especially if you’ve been on your feet for a while.
8. Wilderness Explorers Sign-Up Station
Finally, once you reach the end of the Oasis, you will find yourself on a bridge that takes you to Discovery Island. On this bridge, before you reach the island proper, there is a Wilderness Explorers station. This station is the very best place to grab a handbook, meet a counselor, learn the pledge, and start the day’s Wilderness Explorers sticker badge earning adventures.
