7. Not Arriving For Rope Drop
A rookie mistake that many guests make when visiting Walt Disney World is not arriving at the theme parks for rope drop. By arriving for rope drop, guests are waiting at the gates of the park before it officially opens. Those who arrive early at the Magic Kingdom are treated to a welcome ceremony, Let The Magic Begin. After enjoying the show, guests who arrived early for rope drop are some of the first guests inside the park and are rewarded with few crowds, low wait times, and empty walkways.
6. Not Going To Adventureland First
When the Magic Kingdom first opens, most of the crowds tend to head either towards Fantasyland to experience the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan’s Flight or towards Tomorrowland to hop aboard Space Mountain. Since so many guests head towards those two lands, they tend to be the most crowded in the morning and have the longest wait times. A rookie mistake is to follow the crowd, and guests are smart to instead go against the trend and head towards Adventureland first. There they will be greeted with much lower wait times, fewer guests, and quiet areas.
5. Skipping The Classics
The Magic Kingdom is home to many popular attractions that guests simply must see, but also many classic attractions which can sometimes be overlooked by rookies. Guests should definitely make the time to visit classic attractions like Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, The Hall of Presidents, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, and It’s A Small World. These attractions are beloved by many guests and are amazing experiences that can’t be missed on a day in the Magic Kingdom.
4. Not Using A FastPass For The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
One of the newest attractions in the Magic Kingdom can be found nestled in the middle of New Fantasyland. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train invites guests to board mine carts and enter into the workplace of the seven dwarfs where a million diamonds shine. Along the way guests gently swing side to side in their carts and also can glimpse Snow White. Since the attraction is so popular, the wait time easily exceeds two hours on busy days in the park, so a rookie mistake is not using a FastPass to enjoy the attraction. By using a FastPass, guests can still have the same experience but avoid wasting lots of time waiting in line.

3. Not Lining Up Early For Parades
The Festival of Fantasy Parade runs each afternoon and features whimsical floats with Disney characters including Mickey, Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel, and Pinocchio. Disney parades are incredibly popular with guests and many line up over an hour ahead of time to secure the perfect viewing spot. Guests who don’t book a FastPass for either parade or line up well ahead of time are making a rookie mistake!
2. Not Using A FastPass For Peter Pan’s Flight
One of the most beloved and classic attractions in the Magic Kingdom is Peter Pan’s Flight found in Fantasyland. The attraction invites guests to be sprinkled with pixie dust and take to the skies over London and Neverland with Peter and the Darling children. Since the attraction is very popular and tends to be a little slow loading, the wait time can be very high at all times throughout the day. Guests are smart to book a FastPass for the experience and use the time that would have otherwise been spent waiting on line to enjoy other areas of the park.
1. Skipping Happily Ever After
No day in the Magic Kingdom is complete without a viewing of Happily Ever After and guests who skip the experience make a huge rookie mistake! Each night the sky high over Cinderella Castle and the castle itself come to life with fireworks, a phenomenal musical score, projection show and the classic flight by Tinkerbell. Happily Ever After is the perfect ending to a day enjoyed in the Magic Kingdom.
