7 Reasons You Will Love Staying At Port Orleans Riverside

If you feel right at home down by the bayou, you have got to check out (or check into) Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. This southern-style resort is sure to please in more ways than one with its restaurants, recreation offerings, and overall atmosphere. Here are my top reasons why I love staying along the riverside.

7. The Royal Guest Rooms

Walt Disney World vacations are magical in themselves, but if you are looking to make your resort stay even more magical, check into one of the Port Orleans Resort’s Royal Guest Rooms. These special rooms still contain the two queen beds and the separate bathroom area, but there are a few extra magical touches that set them apart from the basic room: a headboard fireworks display and elegant decorations, truly fit for a queen and king.

6. The atmosphere

The Port Orleans Riverside Resort exemplifies the term “southern comfort.” Southern charm and beauty come together to make this one of my favorite resorts. Whether you’re looking for a place to wind down after a day at the parks or looking to explore all the resort has to offer, I definitely recommend checking out the Port Orleans Riverside!

5. The recreation

This riverside resort has various recreational offerings to fit your fancy. Rental bikes, boats, horse-drawn carriage rides, jogging trails, pools, playgrounds, fishing, and campfire nights are all available to resort guests. There is so much to do here without a park ticket! Also, try taking the water route to Disney Springs; you will get an awesome behind-the-scenes view of the Walt Disney World resorts on this relaxing ride.

4. Bob Jackson

If you are looking for some of the best interactive entertainment Walt Disney World has to offer, head over to the River Roost Bar area to see Bob Jackson. He performs most nights from 8 PM to midnight with his rocking piano (literally.) His catchy songs are sure to have you hollering like Tarzan and parading around the room with your kids. If you have not made it to see Bob yet, please do. This family-friendly entertainment is free and fun for all.

3. The grounds

Gardens, walkways, and a river give this resort an extra sense of relaxation and elegance. Of all the Walt Disney World resorts, the Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite to walk around, both day and night. It is peaceful and quiet, especially when most guests are at the theme parks during the day. Take a stroll with a loved one and explore all the beauty this resort has to offer. You will not be disappointed.

2. The pools/pool bars

Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort has five pools. Yes, I did say five. The main pool, Ol’ Man Island, is equipped with a 95-foot waterslide, fit for kids and kids at heart. This area is also where you will find the Muddy Rivers pool bar, which serves both alcoholic and kid-friendly drinks. The other four leisure pools are for those looking to relax and enjoy some quiet time away from the main hubs of the resort. Hammocks, fire-pits, hot-tubs, and nightly movies on the big screen make these areas extra fun for everyone to enjoy.

1. The staff

The staff at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort have been some of the friendliest Cast Members I have had the chance to meet. Southern hospitality is a natural part of your stay, and in my experience, they have made every effort to make my vacation as magical as possible.
