5 Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Day at Animal Kingdom

By: Alexandra Blazevich

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is home to a variety of Disney classics, with the addition of furry characters and decor. In order to see it all, here are my tips to get the most of your day in the wild Animal Kingdom!

1) Go on the safari first thing:

Of all the times to go on Kilimanjaro Safari throughout the day, (park opening-sunset), I recommend riding in the morning. If possible, make the safari your first ride of the day. The animals are very present in the morning and tend to sleep during the hottest part of the day. In the morning, the animals are more likely to come towards the ride vehicle and make your safari experience more exciting than usual. All these reasons and more make the morning the best time to travel through the African savannah and see all it has to offer!

2) Get out your camera:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park is home to plenty of animals found all around the five-hundred acre park property. The best way to take in all the action that’s constantly going on around you is to have your camera ready at all times. You never know what amazing moments you can capture on film with your camera handy!

3) Get fast passes for Everest:

Of all the rides and attractions at the Animal Kingdom Park, Expedition Everest is currently the most popular ride. Its stand-by line can easily be an hour long during peak season. I recommend making Expedition Everest one of your planned fast passes for your day spent at the Animal Kingdom. You won’t be disappointed, and I know you’ll be thankful you won’t have to stand in line all day!

4) Plan your three fast passes early:

Whether you pick out your fast passes the day of your visit or months before, make sure to pick them for early times of day. When you are done enjoying the first three fast passes at one park, you can continue to go back to the fast pass kiosk to obtain one more at a time, the rest of your day! All you have to do is go back to any fast pass kiosk and they will help you find a fast past attraction and time that is still available. This is especially helpful for Disney’s Animal Kingdom park because it usually closes early, around sunset. Then you can take transportation over to another park to get more fast passes!

5) Take time to walk around and see everything:

The Animal Kingdom is full of hidden treasures and adventures. The best way to experience everything it has to offer is to walk around and find it yourself! At Flights of Wonder, an extraordinary bird show spectacular, you’ll watch all sorts of birds soar above you, while you take all the pictures you desire. At Raffiki’s Planet Watch, you’ll take a train over to view animal exhibits, vet appointments, and even petting zoos! As Charles Muntz from Up said: “Adventure is out there!”
