5 Things You Will Love About T-Rex

Disney Springs has been a staple for restaurant goers since the early days of Downtown Disney. It offers incredible opportunities for fine dining, pub-style fare and family-friendly dining establishments. The Walt Disney Company has always focused on experiences, not just rides or shows, and even in their restaurants, this emphasis on overall experience is apparent. At T-Rex Café, it’s not simply about great food and great service; those are assumed. It’s the experience that sets this restaurant apart. One of best experiences for the whole family to enjoy in Disney Springs is an adventure set 200 million years in the past. Here is why you and your family need to check out T-Rex Café.

5. Paleo Zone

Before you even step foot in the restaurant, there is an opportunity for your little ones to begin their experience by stepping into the shoes of a paleontologist. This interactive discovery sandbox is the perfect way to distract your kids while you wait for a seat in the restaurant. They will love digging for fossils, panning for hidden treasures or trying their hand at an interactive display.

4. Shop

This might be one of the greatest shops on property. Surely every child has heard of Build-a-Bear, but has every child gotten a chance to build a dinosaur? You may be thinking this is targeted to a very specific audience. But your options aren’t limited to Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and T-Rex. You can also choose from other prehistoric creatures like mammoths and sabre-tooth tigers, and of course you have almost unlimited options for clothing and accessorizing your plush pet. With so many options leave yourself lots of time for the kids to choose and create. Your budding paleontologist will love helping their dino come to life by stuffing, cleaning, dressing, accessorizing and naming it; they’ll even get a birth certificate. If that wasn’t enough, this store offers adults and kids unique options like themed dinosaur socks for men and women, novelty shirts and pajamas, and educational toys and games for the young and not so young at heart. The biggest shock is that a good deal of these items are usually on clearance so you won’t break the bank.

3. Restrooms

Admittedly this one is going to sound a little bizarre. Everyone talks about the themes in the parks; the rides, the restaurants, the resorts, etc. This restaurant takes it to the next level with prehistoric-themed bathrooms. Your family may look at you a little strangely when you come back from the bathroom after being gone for so long, so prepare them for a lengthy absence! There is much to see in the bathroom; fossils adorn the walls and floors, so many that you are sure to miss something if you aren’t careful. Ammonites, Trilobites, and Orthocones are just a few of the things to look for on your excursion. Fossil lovers of all ages will be in absolute heaven, and you may even forget you’re in a restroom!

2. Choice

Saying that this restaurants has options for your meal is an understatement. The categories alone seem endless. Children have 12 entrée options specifically for them, all with appropriately themed names like “Lava Lasagna” and “Jurassic Chicken Tidbits”. Overwhelmed? You may just be. So let’s start with the appetizers. The Megalosaurus Mozzarella is incredible. Can’t make up your mind? Grab a Supersaurus Sampler to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds at once. Looking for something lighter? The Omnivore’s Delight Salad might be right up your alley. Try unique sandwiches like the Paleozoic Chicken Sandwich or, for the bigger appetites in your party, go for the suitably named Gigantosaurus Burger. Just make sure your eyes aren’t bigger than your stomach! Chicken, ribs, steak and even a buffet with a little of everything fill out the meats, while a Mammoth Mushroom Ravioli will satisfy even the most picky pasta fan. There’s also an entire menu section for the seafood lovers at the table. This restaurant really does offer something for everyone, including vegetarians and those with dietary restrictions or allergies. Whatever you do make sure you save room for dessert! Personal favorites have to be the Meteor Bites for 2 and the Chocolate Extinction, which you’ll want to share – simply dino-mite!

1. Decor

This alone is reason enough for you to make a reservation for this restaurant RIGHT NOW. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by T-Rex himself, who roars away every few minutes. As you make your way through the restaurant, you’ll pass a bar area overseen by a giant octopus and many jellyfish swimming overhead. Continue through the restaurant, and make sure that you take the time to tour the place with your camera while you wait for your meal. You will find all of your favorite dino friends – make sure you pose for some unforgettable shots! There is even a glowing ice cave area complete with mammoths guarding the entrance and dinosaur fossils embedded in the walls. Don’t miss the baby mammoth; he is probably the cutest feature in the place. If you have ever been to a Rainforest Café, you’ll be familiar with the thunder showers that take place every 20 minutes or so. Well, at T-Rex Café, you will experience a meteor shower on the same cycle. Watch as the lights dim, the dinosaurs start freaking out and even the colour scheme changes as the bright blue of the ice age themed area turns red. With so much going on, this is a restaurant you are going to want to visit over and over again!
