Walt Disney World covers over 27,000 acres and within it are multiple resorts, four theme parks, two water parks, golf courses and much more, and they aren’t exactly within walking distance of one another. But getting from one place to another isn’t a problem when visiting Walt Disney World because they really have thought of everything and they offer transportation throughout Disney property. Here are five reasons we absolutely love Disney World Transportation.

5. Variety

Not only does Disney provide transportation for guests to get to their destination, but they provide a variety of ways to get there! Perhaps the best known, and most loved, form of transportation is the Monorail, which has roughly 150,000 riders daily. Even though the Monorail opened in 1971 at Disney World, it still manages to feel futuristic.

The most common form of transportation on property is probably the bus system which shuttles guests back and forth between resorts and the parks. Some of the resorts offer a few other modes of transportation. For instance, if you are staying at Port Orleans Riverside you can hop on a bus to get to Disney Springs, or take a water taxi. There are a number of watercraft vehicles that guests can take, for example at the Transportation and Ticket Center you can take a ferry to the Magic Kingdom. You can also take a beautiful little boat from Magic Kingdom to The Grand Floridian or The Polynesian, which are lovely options if you just want to sit back and relax in-between resort hopping. When at Disney you can travel by road, water or rail, or try all three!

4. It Takes You to Wonderful Places

If you’re taking Disney transportation, then chances are you’re headed somewhere wonderful! Whether your destination is Magic Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, or even your resort at the end of the day, anywhere in Disney is a great place to be headed. Taking Disney transportation helps build the anticipation as you make your way to the park. This is especially true for the Walt Disney Magical Express, which picks you up from the airport in Orlando and takes you to your resort. Getting on this bus means your vacation is finally starting and you have arrived! They also add a little extra pixie dust to these buses by showing classic cartoons and playing Disney music while on route to Disney World.

3. Part of the Disney Experience

Taking Disney transportation is part of the whole Disney experience. Disney is known for paying attention to all the details and offering world-class service and that extends to their transportation. Cast members play an important part in this experience with their friendly greetings, they’re happy to help with bags and strollers, and a few times I’ve been on board a bus when the cast member has played a special message for a little princess riding the bus notifying the rest of the us that we are among royalty. These small details make something as simple as riding the bus a memorable and magical experience.

2. It’s Fun!

Some of the transportation at Disney is actually an attraction, and fun to ride! My favorite example of this is the Peoplemover in Tomorrowland. It’s relaxing and fun to ride over Tomorrowland, past the Laugh Floor, watch guests zoom along the Tomorrowland Speedway and even coast through the dark in Space Mountain. The Liberty Belle riverboat is another form of transportation that doubles as an attraction, as well as the Walt Disney World Railroad which has stops at Main Street, Frontierland and Fantasyland. While on Main Street U.S.A, you can hop aboard a number of antique replica vehicles, such as the Horse-Drawn Street Car, the Jitney (an early car without a roof) or the Fire Engine. Any of these vehicles will take you up and down Main Street. Another favorite are the chairlifts at Blizzard Beach. Who would choose the stairs when you can just ride on up?

1. Convenience

Disney Transportation can take you anywhere and everywhere! The transportation system here really does it’s best to make getting around property as easy as possible. If you’re unsure about something, there are always cast members available to help you navigate the different routes and modes of transportation.

Buses, boats and Monorails come frequently, at the most they say you may wait 20 minutes. If you have taken your own car to the parks, there are parking lot trams that will shuttle you from your car to the front gate. The parking lots are huge, so this really is necessary. It’s such a relief knowing you don’t have to worry about traveling between parks and resorts while visiting Disney, because they’ve already taken care of it. So hop aboard a bus, train, boat or Monorail and enjoy the transportation of Disney World!
