5 Reasons Why We Absolutely Love Walt Disney World Restaurants

Dining should be a huge part of any Walt Disney World vacation. It’s true that you can bring food into the parks with you if you want, and you can also leave for a couple of hours to try to save some money at a local restaurant. That said, if you don’t try any of the on property restaurants while you’re on your trip, you’ll be missing out. Here are five things to love about Walt Disney World restaurants.

5. Cast Members

The Cast Members who work in the restaurants know what they are doing. If you’re eating at a quick service restaurant they will get you through the line quickly and efficiently. If it’s a full service restaurant that you’re dining at, you will be treated well from check in until the time that you leave. Your server will know the menu inside and out, and will be able to answer all of your questions. If there is a question that your server doesn’t know the answer to, he or she will find out immediately. No matter what type of restaurant you eat at, your order will be prepared the way that you want, because the kitchen staff knows what they are doing as well. The Cast Members in the restaurants are used to handling crowds, but they will still make each person feel special.

4. Variety of Dining Options

If you’re dining at many theme parks, there aren’t a whole lot of choices. Do you want to get your food from the quick service pizza counter, the quick service burger counter, or the quick service chicken counter? That is not what things are like at Walt Disney World. There are plenty of quick service dining locations, which will get you fed and back in the park in a hurry. If you’d rather sit down and enjoy a meal, there are table service restaurants in all four theme parks, at Disney Springs, and in many of the resort hotels. If you’re looking to celebrate or enjoy a romantic dinner, there are also plenty of fine dining restaurants. The variety of dining options at Walt Disney World will change the way that you think about theme park food.

3. Variety of Food

Cold and greasy food is standard at many theme parks, but not at Walt Disney World. It’s easy to find things that you associate with theme parks such as corn dogs and turkey legs. At Walt Disney World you can also find Mealie Pap, Flame-broiled New York Strip Steak, Nudel Gratin, and a Thanksgiving-style dinner served with all the trimmings. If you follow a special diet, dining at Walt Disney World is easy. Vegetarians will have no problems finding options. Those who limit their gluten intake will be thrilled with the number of gluten-free choices. Foods can easily be prepared without common allergens. Quick service kosher meals are sold in all four theme parks. Vegans and people who follow other extremely restrictive special diets will want to contact the restaurant in question at least 48 hours in advance, just to make sure that the right ingredients will be on hand. No matter what type of food you’re in the mood for, you will be able to find it at Walt Disney World.

2. Atmosphere

Every restaurant at Walt Disney World is different. It doesn’t matter if it’s a quick service location, the details are amazing. Many of the restaurants have whimsical themes, and they will draw you into the illusion. Others are upscale and chic. The colors, the sounds, the paintings, the knickknacks, and the Cast Member costumes all work together to create a unique dining atmosphere. You can eat in your car at a drive-in theater, head inside the restaurant where young dogs fall in love, or watch boats float by Mayan ruins at twilight. Walt Disney World is about escaping reality, and the restaurants will allow you to do just that.

1. The Food Itself

Simply put, the food at Walt Disney World is amazing. You’ll find gourmet creations by celebrity chefs, dishes from around the world, and so much more. If you want pizza, you can order a pie that is made with flour from Italy. If it’s ice cream that you’re looking for, you can dive into decadent creations made with imported chocolate. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you will find it at a Walt Disney World restaurant. If you really want to enjoy your meal, consider making a reservation at a restaurant at one of the Deluxe resorts. You’ll forget that you’re not far from the most popular theme parks in the world. While not every dish will be perfect for everyone, you are sure to find creations that will please your pallet and that you will wish you could have again once you return home. If you only bring in your own food or eat outside of Walt Disney World property, you’ll be missing out on what could be the most delicious part of your vacation.

About PaulaK

I grew up in Western Massachusetts. When I was nine my family went to Disneyland and I was hooked. I grew up, attended New England College in Henniker, NH and eventually moved to Virginia. I worked as a disc jockey, married and became a full time mom when our daughter was born. Fast forward several years. In 2010 we moved to Central Florida and my Disney obsession grew. I now work as a freelance writer and spend my spare time in the parks. Under the name Paula Brown I penned the novels Dream Wanderers and The Coffee Cruiser. I also am a co-author of Dining at Walt Disney World: The Definitive Guide. I'm obsessed with Star Wars, so this is a good time to live in Central Florida. I've been a vegetarian for well over a decade, a choice that my daughter eventually made as well. While my husband still hasn't joined us fully he has given up most meats except for seafood. I was relieved to find that vegetarian dining is not difficult at Walt Disney World.
