No matter how you look at it, any vacation in Walt Disney World is going to be magical from the first glimpse of Cinderella Castle to the last day in the parks. While guests might not think much about their wardrobe when planning their trip, there are definitely some necessities and things to avoid in terms of clothing and accessories. With all of the walking and the high temperatures, it can be really important to be comfortable in the parks and avoid any situations that will result in enjoying a vacation less. Here are ten killer wardrobe tips to make sure that your next Walt Disney World vacation is as magical as can be!
10. Break in Sneakers
Footwear is an imperative part of any Disney vacation since there is so much walking involved in the parks. The most important thing to remember is to break in your footwear completely before leaving home. No one wants to be limping around the Magic Kingdom with painful blisters. In addition to breaking in shoes, be sure to wear ones that are generally comfortable and can withstand a mid-afternoon thunderstorm. I like to pack a backup pair of sneakers just in case one pair gets very wet throughout one day, that way they can dry properly and I don’t have to worry about putting on soggy shoes the next morning.
9. Light, Comfortable Clothes
The heat in Disney can be intense in the warmer months, and with humidity and a strong sun thrown in it can be easy to get overheated. It’s important to wear clothing that is comfortable and lightweight to make sure that you stay cool throughout the day. Sometimes dresses can be the cooler option for women, but be sure to think about the logistics of getting onto certain attractions that are low like Space Mountain when choosing your outfit. When in doubt, aim for comfort!
8. Easily Accessible Bags
Throughout each day in Disney World, guests are going to need to be able to get into their bags for various items like sunscreen, wallets, and water bottles. In addition to accessing items, guests are required to remove their bags and have them searched upon entering each park and are also required to remove them on certain attractions. All of this makes it necessary to have a bag that can be easily accessed or removed. Great options to consider are cross body bags that add a hands free perk or backpacks.
7. Ears
There’s no wardrobe accessory as perfect for Disney as Mickey Ears! There are now dozens of options to choose from ranging from the classic original ears to ones that resemble certain characters like Figment. Guests can even get their ears personalized with their names on the back for an extra touch of style. Try shopping in the Chapeau on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom for your next pair!
6. Jewelry / Watches
If ears aren’t your thing, jewelry or watches offer a great way to rock your Disney side in a more subtle way. There are tons of options to choose from in many shopping locations including earrings and rings and prices range from low end to fine jewelry so there is something for everyone!
5. Disney T-Shirts
Disney clothing can also add some flair to a wardrobe while exploring the parks. Guests can find everything from polo shirts with small embroidered Mickeys to t-shirts featuring certain attractions or characters. It’s a great way to jazz up any Disney wardrobe!

4. Haunted Mansion Clothing
For Haunted Mansion fans who are looking to incorporate the attraction into their wardrobe, there’s no better place to shop than Memento Mori in the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square. Featuring tons of clothing options including t-shirts, sweatshirts, and long sleeve shirts, there is something for every happy haunt to purchase and wear in the parks.
3. Carry A Sweatshirt
While temperatures during the days can be in the high nineties, most buildings in Walt Disney World are air conditioned and temperatures can drop at nighttime. Many dining locations are also air conditioned and can get a little chilly. Therefore it’s a good idea to carry around a lightweight sweatshirt to make sure that you are comfortable no matter what temperature it is.
2. Don’t Forget A Bathing Suit
Not only are you on vacation, but it’s also Florida! With hot days and warm nights, two water parks, and amazing resort pools you definitely do not want to forget to pack your bathing suit!
1. Bring A Hat
Many guests are vigilant with sunscreen, but forget to take care of the tops of their heads. Consider packing a comfortable and small hat to wear around the parks during the day to avoid an unwanted sunburn on your head. Just be sure to have a way to store it if you want to take it off once night falls.
