10. Complimentary Airport Transportation
If you’re flying into Orlando, and staying at a Disney resort, you are able to use Disney’s Magical Express. The Magical Express is a complimentary bus service that will pick you up from the airport and drop you off at your Disney resort. The best part of this service is that you do not need to wait at baggage claim for your luggage. Disney will pick up your luggage and deliver it to your resort within a couple of hours. This means, that if you stay at a Disney resort, your vacation can begin the moment you step off the plane. Of course, this service can bring you back to the airport at the end of your trip as well.
9. Complimentary Theme Park Transportation
Once you’re at your resort, you do not need to find a rental car or spend extra money on taxi fares. Disney resort guests enjoy complimentary transportation to all four theme parks, both waterparks, and Disney Springs.
8. Disney Cast Members at your Resort
This point might seem a bit obvious, but you might find it helpful to be staying at a resort that employs Disney cast members, if most of your vacation is going to be centered around Disney. If you have questions about reservations, Fastpasses, or just planning your day in the parks in general, chances are that the staff at a Disney resort will be better equipped to help than at non-Disney resorts.
7. Proximity to the Parks
The Walt Disney World Resort is 44 square miles (twice the size of Manhattan.) This means that if you’re staying off property, getting into property might become a hassle. You can easily get stuck in rush hour traffic, and you’ll need to leave earlier to get where you’re going, especially if you’re relying on sporadically scheduled shuttles, or your uncle driving a rental car while the rest of the family argues about directions.
6. Shopping
If you’re a Disney fan who likes to shop, you’ll find that you’ll have much better options at a Disney resort vs. a non-Disney resort. If you’re looking for Disney specific merchandise, staying on property might be a better option.
5. Complimentary Package Pickup
If you’re staying at a Disney resort, and you do some shopping in one of the theme parks, you can have those items shipped back to your resort for free, so that you don’t need to carry them around for the rest of the day. Non-resort guests can still take advantage of sending packages to the front of the park for free, but this requires them to be in the park for another 3 hours from the time of purchase, and can still become a hassle when park-hopping.
4. Kids’ Activities
Unsurprisingly, Disney resorts have unparalleled activities for kids. Whether or not you’re looking to relax by the pool with some child-friendly activities or spend some time in the clubhouse as a family, Disney’s kids’ activities are the best in the industry, and you can only take full advantage of them while staying at a Disney resort.

3. Dining Options
In addition to the number of unique dining options that are available at Disney resorts, only Disney resort guests can take advantage of the Disney Dining Plan. If the dining plan is something that interests you and your family, you’ll definitely want to consider staying at a Disney resort, as you cannot take advantage of this offer otherwise.
2. Extra Magic Hours
Extra Magic Hours are when the theme parks either open earlier or stay open later for Disney resort guests only. For instance, Epcot might close at 9:00 PM, but have Extra Magic Hours until 11:00 PM. This means that if you do not stay at a Disney resort, you’d be missing out on an extra couple of hours at each of the parks. I always take advantage of Extra Magic Hours when I stay at a Disney resort, and they would definitely be a deciding factor for whether or not I’d stay on property.
1. “The Disney Bubble”
The Disney bubble is a term I use to refer to the feeling of being fully immersed in all that Walt Disney World has to offer. By staying at a Disney resort, you’re never going to be leaving behind the magic until you check out and go home. Walt Disney World is meant to serve as an escape from the realities of everyday life, and to me, this escape is better accomplished while staying on property. Once you leave Disney property, you’ll be back in the real world, where you’ll be driving down a highway passing fast food restaurants and Wal-Marts, whereas staying on property will leave you within the “Disney bubble.”
