10 Character Meet & Greets You Might Not Know About at Walt Disney World

Meeting your favorite character in Walt Disney World is one of the most magical things.  Most of the character meet and greets are pretty obviously well known, like meeting Anna and Elsa in Norway, or meeting Mickey in Magic Kingdom. But there are other well-loved characters around Disney too! Check these out!

1. Pocahontas

Hidden among the tall trees and sweeping vines of Animal Kingdom, the Discovery Island Trails have so much to teach and uncover and, yes, discover. Including an amazing Disney character: Pocahontas! Pocahontas fits right in in this nature-filled haven. This Native American princess is an older Disney staple, but her message and spirit are ageless. She’s great to get a picture with or talk about the happenings in Animal Kingdom!

2. Merida

If you had the chance to meet Merida…would ya? It’s easy to walk past Merida’s Magic Kingdom hangout. The Fairytale Garden spot is in Fantasyland, right off the bridge. This area is designed to look like DunBroch, Merida’s own kingdom. The queue is super fun and engaging for kids, with lots to look at and play with. And Merida’s awesome! She’s excited to meet new people and hear their daring tales!

3. Alice

Alice, from Alice and Wonderland, can actually be spotted in two places in the various parks. In Magic Kingdom, you can find her by the Teacups in Fantasyland. In Epcot, you can find her in her real world: the United Kingdom! It’s fun to catch her in Epcot because she fits in perfectly with the English tea gardens and thatched roofs.

4. Ralph and Vanellope

For a long time ImageWorks at Epcot was a non-utilized space. Not anymore! Ralph and Vanellope from Wreck-it-Ralph and Ralph Breaks the Internet have taken over! Walking into the Imagination Pavilion is like walking into the internet yourself! Ralph and Vanellope are always down for a good time, and this pair is goofy and fun to meet and hang out with!

5. Elena

Not everyone even knows about Elena! Elena is a new Disney Junior princess. She is the new ruler of the kingdom of Avalor. Her culture and family are super important to her and she’s a strong role model for kids everywhere! Elena can be found with Cinderella at Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom.

6. Pete’s Silly Side Show

Also in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom (although on the other side) is this fun meet and greet opportunity. While it’s always fun to meet the classic characters, not many people talk about Pete’s Silly Side Show. Cutely decorated, this space has Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and Pluto dressed up in dashing and daring circus attire. It’s easy to get sucked into this fun story and have a blast with the gang.

7. Joy and Sadness

You can actually travel to Riley’s Mind, aka Headquarters, in Epcot! This character spot is in Future World and a great place to meet the important stars from Inside Out. I love that Joy and Sadness are together in this meet and greet, just as they are in the movie and in life! You can dance around with Joy and give Sadness a great, big hug!

8. Edna Mode

….and guest. Edna now has her own meet and greet area in the Municiberg corner of Hollywood Studios. This Incredibly-themed street puts you right into the movie, complete with a bunch of Jack-Jacks running around the place. To meet Edna, you get to go to her studio and check out her best creations, like Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Frozone, Dash and Violet’s suits!

9. Mike and Sulley

Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc. are the most lovable monsters in the human and monster universe! They like to hang about Animation Courtyard and love meeting new humans! They’re big and huggable and good for a laugh, but not a scare! And behind them is a cool door to the other world as a fun backdrop!

10. Surprise Characters

Keep your eyes peeled for special characters to pop up randomly! For a while, Magic Kingdom was bringing back old friends like Robin Hood characters, Chicken Little and Abby, Phineas and Ferb, and more to hang around Main Street. I love bumping into characters – you never know who you’ll see!

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
