Judy and Nick Are in Partners Therapy—And It’s Everything

Walt Disney Animation Studios just dropped a brand-new trailer for Zootopia 2, and this time, we finally have full dialogue! After the previous teaser relied on music and visual gags to get fans hyped, this latest preview dives straight into the kind of clever banter and world-building that made the first film such a hit.

At the heart of the trailer is a hilarious group therapy session titled “Partners in Crisis”—a setting that brings together several officer duos from across Zootopia’s police force. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde don’t exactly think they need the session, of course. They’re the dream team, right? But the very expressive (and slightly too perceptive) Dr. Fuzzby thinks otherwise.

Trouble in Paradise—and a Slippery New Case

From the start, Judy and Nick clearly have some unresolved tension. Their playful bickering, mismatched energy, and mutual stubbornness spark plenty of laughs, but there’s also a sense of real stakes: If they can’t learn to work together truly, they’ll be split up.

And just like that, their next big case kicks off—with a suspect named Gary, a smooth-talking snake voiced by Academy Award-winner Ke Huy Quan. Gary is somehow connected to the sudden appearance of a mysterious reptile figure in Zootopia, and Judy and Nick are assigned to track him down. But there’s a twist: they’ll have to go deep undercover into strange, wild new districts of Zootopia we’ve never seen before.

New Characters, Familiar Charm

Fans can expect fast-paced action, big laughs, and the kind of witty, socially aware storytelling that made the original film iconic. The movie introduces a fresh cast of characters while bringing back old favorites. Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin return as Nick and Judy, respectively, with their signature chemistry and comedic timing on full display.

Shakira reprises her role as Gazelle, promising another musical moment we’re sure will dominate playlists. And yes—Flash the sloth may just appear in the new movie (just… don’t blink, or you might miss him).

Newcomers include Ke Huy Quan’s slippery and suspicious Gary, whose charm may or may not be hiding something more sinister, along with other yet-to-be-revealed voices that Disney has been teasing. The dynamic of predator vs. prey expands in fascinating ways as reptiles—an entirely new class of creatures—begin to shake things up in the city.

What to Expect This Fall

From the trailer, Zootopia 2 looks like it will double down on the buddy-cop energy, quirky characters, and layered mystery that fans loved in the original. The stakes are higher, the locations are weirder, and the partnership between Judy and Nick has never been more tested.

Can they stay partners and crack the case? Or will Zootopia’s most iconic duo be pulled apart just when the city needs them most? We’ll find out when Zootopia 2 hits theaters this November.
