Work Begins on Major Expansion Inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Construction walls are once again appearing in one of Disney’s most ambitious theme park lands. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has long been a place where fans could live out their own intergalactic stories. Now, Disney is quietly pushing the land into a new chapter, and guests are already starting to take notice.

Two Projects Stir Speculation

Right now, Galaxy’s Edge is buzzing with not just one, but two different construction projects. Earlier this summer, crews started clearing land near the entrance to Toy Story Land. While details remain scarce, many believe that this site will eventually be used for a new attraction or expanded guest space.

But the bigger surprise came in the heart of Black Spire Outpost. Just outside of Savi’s Workshop—the beloved build-your-own-lightsaber experience—fresh construction walls have been installed, covering a wide section of the courtyard. The speeder bike photo spot has already been removed, and paving work is well underway.

Savi’s Workshop itself is still operating, though with noticeably lighter crowds than usual. Reservations, once nearly impossible to snag, are now wide open. Whether this project is meant to reinvigorate interest in the lightsaber experience or simply refresh the area with functional improvements remains unclear.

What Could Be Coming Next

When Galaxy’s Edge opened in 2019, it launched with two massive rides: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Both attractions continue to be guest favorites, but fans have always wondered if more was on the horizon. Disney has a long track record of expanding lands years after they debut, and the timing suggests Galaxy’s Edge is entering its next phase.

These updates could pave the way for new interactive elements, enhanced crowd flow, or even fresh story-driven experiences. In a land already packed with detail, even small changes can leave a big impact on how immersive the world feels.

What You Can Still Do in Galaxy’s Edge

Despite the construction, Galaxy’s Edge remains a must-visit part of Hollywood Studios. Guests can:

  • Create a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop.

  • Fly the Millennium Falcon on Smugglers Run.

  • Join the Resistance in one of Disney’s most advanced rides.

  • Relax with themed drinks at Oga’s Cantina.

  • Grab Batuu-exclusive snacks like the Ronto Wrap or Blue Milk.

The Road Ahead

Disney hasn’t officially revealed what these projects will lead to, but the fact that multiple expansions are happening at once shows clear investment. Whether it’s new experiences or just thoughtful enhancements, fans know that Disney rarely builds without a bigger plan. And when it comes to Star Wars, the future possibilities are as limitless as the galaxy itself.
