Disney Announces Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2 Release Date
The magical mayhem continues! Disney has officially announced the premiere date for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place Season 2, and longtime fans of the Russo family have plenty to get excited about. The new season starts with a double-episode premiere on Friday, September 12 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and Disney Channel On Demand. For those who prefer to binge, all episodes will drop on Disney+ starting October 8 in the U.S. and select international markets.
Selena Gomez Returns as Alex Russo
Perhaps the biggest news for fans is the return of executive producer Selena Gomez in front of the camera, reprising her iconic role as Alex Russo. Her guest appearance is expected to add a heavy dose of nostalgia while also deepening the show’s current storyline.
Gomez isn’t the only familiar face making a comeback—Wizards favorites Mr. Laritate (Bill Chott) and Mantooth (Sean Whalen) are also set to appear, along with Amanda Tepe in a festive holiday episode.
An All-Star Guest Cast Joins the Magical Chaos
Season 2 won’t just rely on familiar faces. A new lineup of guest stars is bringing fresh energy to the series, including Freya Skye (ZOMBIES 4: Dawn of the Vampires) as Piper, Harvey Guillén as Gossip Stone, Kirsten Vangsness as Bigelow McFigglehorn, Tobias Jelinek, Recker Eans, Patrick Bristow, and Eleanor Sweeney in various magical roles.
A New Chapter for the Russo Family
The second season focuses on Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) as she discovers that being part of the Russo family comes with more magical complications than she ever expected. Now that Roman (Alkaio Thiele) and Milo (Max Matenko) have developed magical powers, Justin (David Henrie) must train all three young wizards in preparation for the Family Wizard Competition. But there’s a darker force brewing—one that could jeopardize the entire family’s future.
Created by Legends, Powered by Nostalgia
With Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas back as writers and executive producers—joined by Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez, and Henrie—Season 2 promises a perfect blend of heart, humor, and high-stakes magic. Originally created by Todd Greenwald, Wizards of Waverly Place was beloved for its balance of real-world emotion and wizardly wonder. Wizards Beyond looks set to continue that legacy while pushing the story into exciting new territory.
