With Its Imminent Release, Full Main Cast Confirmed for ‘Disney’s Snow White’

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White is set to arrive in theaters on March 21, 2025. The highly anticipated remake of Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) has faced ongoing controversy for several years, starting with the casting of Rachel Zegler as the iconic Disney princess.

The backlash intensified in 2023 when comments made by Zegler in 2022 resurfaced online, sparking fresh waves of criticism aimed at the project. This fueled discontent that had already been building due to elements like the CGI reimagining of the dwarfs, Gal Gadot’s casting as the Evil Queen, and a notably scaled-back promotional campaign. The film’s first major event, originally intended to be held in London, was instead a quieter gathering in Segovia, Spain.

The extensive cast list reveals Disney’s efforts to expand the narrative beyond what was seen in the original 1937 animated film, incorporating new characters and portraying more of Snow White’s early life with multiple actresses taking on the role.

Snow White is directed by Marc Webb with a screenplay penned by Erin Cressida Wilson. While it was previously reported that Barbie‘s Greta Gerwig had co-written the script, the Writers Guild of America directory confirms Wilson will receive sole credit for the screenplay. Gerwig, alongside Jez Butterworth, Steven Levenson, Jeffrey Nathanson, Victoria Strouse, and Chris Weitz, is listed under “Additional Literary Material” for their contributions to the film.
