Why We Can’t Wait To Experience Walt Disney World in 2021

As 2020 wraps up, we can’t help be excited for all the great experiences coming to Walt Disney World in 2021.  This year is sure to be extra magical with Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary and so much more coming for guests.  Here are just a few of the experiences we are looking forward to in 2021.

1. Return of the Festivals

There is something special about EPCOT’s festivals.  From the unique and delicious foods to the entertainment and fun atmosphere, these festivals are events we can’t wait to see once again in 2021.  Each festival brings a special feel to EPCOT making them some of the best time to be in Walt Disney World.

2. Cavalcades

New in 2020 was the arrival of cavalcades in all four Disney parks.  These mini parades allowed guests to see and interact with their favorite characters without waiting for a parade or standing in large crowds.  As of right now, it seems that these will continue into 2021 and we couldn’t be more excited about it.  We love that the magic seems to randomly pop-up bringing our favorite characters to us.  If we are being honest, we hope these stick around for a while.

3. Park Hopping

Yes, you are seeing that right- park hopping is coming back!  As of right now, Disney has announced that park hopping will be allowed starting at the beginning of 2021.  Guests will still be required to make one park pass reservation for the morning hours; however, following 2pm, guests will be given the opportunity to hop to another park.  We are so excited for this experience to return.  We love to be able to hop from park to park to get as much magic as possible.  Remember, in order to take advantage of this experience, guests will need to have purchased a park hopper ticket option.

4. Opening of All Star Movies

Disney has slowly been reopening their resorts and we are excited to be able to stay at All Star Movie resort once again.  Tentatively scheduled for an early February opening, All Star Movies will start welcoming guests back.  This is a great for those wanting to experience Disney on a budget as only Pop Century and Art of Animation have been opened in Disney’s “value” resort category.   We are excited to see these larger-than-life movie icons once again.

5. TRON Coaster in Magic Kingdom

We have anxiously been watching the building of the TRON Coaster over the last few years in the Magic Kingdom and we can’t wait for it to be up and running in 2021.  This ride is coming to the United States from Shanghai Disneyland.  This ride is going to be a high-speed coaster with thrills and chills.  We can’t wait to take a ride on this coaster ourselves.  Although no official opening date has been announced by Disney, we are hopeful it will be opened by the end of 2021.

6. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

Originally scheduled to open summer of 2020, Remy and friends have had to wait for their debut as park closure slowed progress.  We are excited to see this new ride in 2021 and Remy and friends will be welcoming guests soon.  Being able to see what this ride will look like thanks to Ratatouille:  L’Aventure Totalement Toquee de Remy in Disneyland Paris, has made us even more interested in taking a ride.  Again, no specific dates have been released; however, we are hoping for early 2021!

7. Guardians of the Galaxy Attraction

As more and more information is released around this ride, we become more and more thrilled to experience it.  Guardians of the Galaxy will be bringing new technology to the Disney parks as it will be the world’s largest enclosed roller coaster when it opens.  Bringing the thrill and adventure of space travel alongside the Guardians, this new family-friendly coaster seems to have it all and more.  With a backwards launch and new, unique ride vehicles that will move guests so they are constantly in the action, Guardians of the Galaxy:  Cosmic Rewind is one ride we can’t wait to take on in 2021.

8. Space 220:  Hopefully

We have anxiously been waiting for Space 220 to open for what seems like forever.  This space themed restaurant will give guests the feeling of being in a space station while enjoying a delicious meal.  Guests will peer out and enjoy both amazing daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.  American cuisine and 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines are promised as well.  This is a restaurant that is sure to be out of this world.

9. La CrĂŞperie de Paris

This will be a new table service and quick service restaurant coming to the France Pavilion and you guessed it- they will specialize in delicious crepes featuring a menu from celebrity Chef Jerome Bocuse.  We can’t wait to see what this new dining location will bring.

10. Reopening of the Refurbished Polynesian Resort

Disney announced at the end of the summer that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would remain closed until summer 2021.  One of the main reasons given was that this resort would be going under a lengthy refurbishment.  Details about this refurbishment include updating the entryway, the monorail station as well as the rooms bringing in some Moana inspired touches.  We can’t wait to see what new magical touches will be added to make the Polynesian even more of an amazing experience.

11. Magic Kingdom’s 50th Anniversary

The main event we can’t wait to experience in 2021 is Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary celebration.  On October 1st, Magic Kingdom will be turning 50th and even though we don’t know the exact details, we can only imagine the magic that will be involved in the celebration.  If you too want to experience this celebration, get those reservations now and they are filling up quickly as passionate Disney fans will want to be there on this special occasion.

2021 has so many amazing and magical experiences coming to guests in Walt Disney World.  From amazing new dining experiences and outstanding, thrilling rides to updated resorts and the 50th anniversary of Magic Kingdom.  2021 will be an outstanding year full of great experiences.

About Jennifer Retzlaff

My name is Jennifer Retzlaff and I became a lifelong Disney fan during my first trip to Walt Disney World in 6th grade. From that moment, Disney became a big part of my life. I live in Iowa with my husband and two kids who are growing up too quickly for my liking. I started introducing my love for Disney early to my family with a Disney honeymoon and then trips when our youngest of 18 months. Since then, our family has been to Walt Disney World over five times and we continue to plan and dream for the next trip. I love the magic that Disney brings to people through the theme parks, cruises, adventures and movies they create. As a teacher, I try to bring that magic into my classroom to help kids believe that “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It.” I recently reached a dream of mine as I joined Magic Vacation Planner as a personal travel advisor. With this team, I can now help others plan magical vacations. As a passionate writer, I also have my own blog at magicalvacationsbyjen which is also where you can follow me on instagram for trip reviews along with tips and tricks for your next magical vacation.
