Why Some Disney World Attractions Might Not Be Worth the Wait Right Now

If you’ve been to Disney World during the summer, you already know how intense it can get. School’s out, vacationers are flooding the parks, and the Florida sun is doing its thing. It’s all part of the summer magic—and madness. While most attractions see a bump in wait times this time of year, there are a few that are getting hit especially hard.

Whether it’s due to popularity, limited shade, or tricky access systems, these rides are starting to create serious headaches for guests.

Let’s dive into what’s making people think twice about these attractions right now.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

EPCOT’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind now uses a traditional standby line, and that shift is definitely being felt. With wait times hovering around 75–80 minutes on average, guests are finding this to be one of the most time-consuming attractions in the park. It’s worth riding—but you’ll want to plan ahead if you don’t want this coaster devouring your entire afternoon.

Flight of Passage

Over at Animal Kingdom, Flight of Passage continues to pull in massive crowds years after its debut. It’s a breathtaking ride, but with summer heat and high humidity, that hour-long line can feel much worse than it looks on paper. Many guests suggest hitting this one first thing in the morning or skipping it if you’re short on time.

Slinky Dog Dash

Hollywood Studios is home to Slinky Dog Dash, a family-friendly coaster that’s wildly popular—and for good reason. But Toy Story Land doesn’t offer much relief from the heat. With minimal shade and lines stretching beyond an hour, this attraction is as sweaty as it is fun. Guests with young kids especially need to weigh whether it’s worth the wait in such exposed conditions.

TRON Lightcycle/ Run

Still running on a virtual queue, TRON Lightcycle / Run is another ride that’s raising eyebrows. The competition to grab a boarding group is fierce, and if you miss out, your only option is to pay for Individual Lightning Lane—assuming slots are available. It’s not just the ride—it’s the pressure of securing your spot that has guests stressed.

Be Ready, or Be Waiting

These rides are fantastic experiences, but they’re not easy to squeeze into a summer itinerary. With so many people in the parks, Disney’s biggest thrill rides are also becoming the biggest logistical challenges. If you’re visiting soon, keep an eye on the app, use Genie+ wisely, and be flexible—because wait times this summer aren’t slowing down.

Andrew Boardwine

A frequent visitor of Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, Andrew will likely be found freefalling on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror or enjoying Pirates of the Caribbean. Over at Universal, he'll be taking in the thrills of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster and Revenge of the Mummy
