Why Disney Is Removing ‘Frozen’ in Just Over 40 Days

Okay Disney fans, buckle up because Disneyland Paris is about to get a MASSIVE glow-up and honestly, it’s about time.

Walt Disney Studios Park (which, let’s be real, has always been the weaker park) is getting completely transformed into Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, and we are HERE for it.

We’re talking a gorgeous new Adventure Way boulevard, an ENTIRE World of Frozen land (not just a ride, an ENTIRE LAND), plus 14 new restaurants because apparently Disney finally realized people need to eat. The park’s getting Raiponce Tangled Spin, a brand new nighttime show called Disney Cascade of Lights, and eventually a Lion King water ride with next-gen animatronics that’s gonna blow your mind. And if you’re wondering where to stay while experiencing all this magic, Disneyland Paris has SEVEN themed hotels including the completely renovated five-star Disneyland Hotel that literally serves as the entrance to the park (goals), plus Disney Hotel New York which is basically a Marvel art museum with beds.

The resort already has exclusive stuff you can’t get at any other Disney park like Phantom Manor (their creepier Haunted Mansion), an Indiana Jones roller coaster, and Bistrot Chez Rémy where you eat French food while shrunk down to rat size (yes, really). But here’s the thing about major theme park expansions: something’s gotta give. And in this case, that “something” is a beloved Frozen show that’s been entertaining guests since 2019.

The Show’s Getting Frozen Out (Sorry, Had To)

Disney just dropped the news that Frozen: A Musical Invitation is closing FOR GOOD on April 1, 2026. The interactive stage show has been running at the Animation Celebration theater since November 2019 when it replaced The Art of Disney Animation right as Frozen 2 hit theaters.

Here’s where the timing gets interesting: World of Frozen opens March 29, which means there’s literally a THREE-DAY window where you can experience both the old show and the new land. March 29, 30, and 31, that’s it. After April 1, the show’s done forever.

The Disneyland Paris website is trying to soften the blow, saying: “Frozen: a Musical Invitation will end on 1 April 2026, but you can still see Elsa and Anna in World of Frozen from 29 March 2026 in Disney Adventure World or during Disney Stars on Parade in Disneyland Park.”

Translation: “Don’t freak out, the sisters aren’t disappearing completely, we’re just moving them from a theater to AN ENTIRE FREAKING KINGDOM.”

And honestly? Fair trade.

What We’re Losing

Look, Frozen: A Musical Invitation was cute. You got to sing along to “Let It Go” (for the millionth time), “Love Is An Open Door,” and “Reindeers Are Better Than People” with enthusiastic cast members who really committed to the bit. The whole thing lasted about 20 minutes, and afterward you could meet Olaf, which was adorable if you had little kids.

The show was also in an air-conditioned theater, which in the middle of a hot Paris summer was honestly half the appeal. Need a break from walking around? Boom, sit down for 20 minutes and watch Anna and Elsa’s greatest hits.

It opened right when Frozen 2 came out, so the timing made perfect sense. For the past seven years, if you wanted Frozen content at Disneyland Paris, this was pretty much it. But that’s about to change in a MAJOR way.

What We’re Getting Instead (And WHY It’s Better)

World of Frozen isn’t just “a Frozen area.” It’s a full-on immersive land with Arendelle Castle as the centerpiece, and here’s what’s inside:

FROZEN EVER AFTER – You know that boat ride at Epcot everyone loves? It’s coming to Paris. You float through Arendelle during the Summer Snow Day celebration with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven all showing up as animatronics while songs from both movies play. This alone makes up for losing the stage show.

MEET ANNA AND ELSA INSIDE THE ACTUAL CASTLE – Not in some random meet-and-greet spot. Not backstage. INSIDE ARENDELLE CASTLE. The theming is gonna be insane.

A VIKING LONGSHIP BOAT SHOW – Because apparently just having the ride wasn’t enough, there’s also going to be a whole show happening on Viking ships during the day. The water elements throughout this land are gonna make it feel alive.

SHOPPING AND DINING THEMED TO FROZEN – So you can actually spend HOURS in this land instead of just riding one thing and leaving.

A WALKING OLAF ANIMATRONIC – Okay, this is the part that has us geeking out. Disney’s creating a “living” Olaf that can walk around and interact with guests spontaneously. Not on a track. Not scripted. Just… existing in the land like an actual snowman. The technology on this is apparently next-level.

Going from a 20-minute show to ALL OF THIS? Yeah, we’ll take that trade.

But Wait, There’s More (Because Of Course There Is)

The Musical Invitation closing is just one tiny piece of Walt Disney Studios Park becoming Disney Adventure World. Here’s everything else happening:

Adventure Way is the new main street with themed gardens, rotating entertainment, and FOURTEEN new places to eat. FOURTEEN. Disney finally understands we can’t survive on churros alone.

There’s gonna be a Lion King attraction eventually with water elements and insane animatronics featuring all the songs from the original movie. Sign us up immediately.

An Up flying carousel is coming to Adventure Way because watching Carl’s house float around while you’re on a spinning ride sounds absolutely delightful.

Raiponce Tangled Spin (a Tangled-themed spinner) opens with World of Frozen, adding more ride capacity for families.

Disney Cascade of Lights replaces the old nighttime show with projections and characters all along Adventure Way. The new park layout is apparently designed specifically to make this show look incredible.

This is BILLIONS of euros in investment. Walt Disney Studios Park was always kind of the disappointing younger sibling, and Disney’s finally giving it the glow-up it deserves.

The Frozen Cinematic Universe Is HEATING UP

World of Frozen isn’t opening in a vacuum. Disney’s going ALL IN on Frozen content leading up to 2027, and here’s the tea:

OCTOBER 2026: NEW FROZEN SHORT FILM – Paul Gitter from Disney Consumer Products spilled to License Global that a new Frozen short is dropping this October as the “countdown to Frozen 3” begins. He literally said this is happening “ahead of our biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027.”

Disney hasn’t said HOW the short is releasing. October doesn’t have any big Disney theatrical releases (the closest is Hexed in late November), so it’s probably going straight to Disney+. That’s what they did with At Home with Olaf and Olaf Presents, so it tracks.

Previous Frozen shorts include Frozen Fever (cute), Olaf’s Frozen Adventure (the one that got pulled from Coco screenings because people complained it was too long, oops), and Once Upon a Snowman (which was fine).

NOVEMBER 2027: FROZEN 3 HITS THEATERS – It’s happening November 24, 2027. Josh Gad is back as Olaf, Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel are returning as Anna and Elsa, and Jennifer Lee is writing AND directing.

Get this: Jennifer Lee literally STEPPED DOWN as Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios to focus entirely on Frozen. That’s how important this franchise is to Disney.

AND FROZEN 4 IS ALREADY IN DEVELOPMENT – Because of course it is. The Frozen train has no brakes.

Gitter called Frozen “a powerhouse brand” and pointed out that fans now span multiple generations. Girls who saw the original Frozen in 2013 are adults now. Kids who watched Frozen 2 are tweens and teens. The franchise keeps growing, which is why Disney’s connecting everything from theme parks to movies to merchandise aimed at audiences from little kids to young adults.

When Should You Actually Visit?

IF YOU WANT ONE LAST MUSICAL INVITATION EXPERIENCE: Get to Disneyland Paris before April 1, 2026. The March 29-31 window lets you see both the closing show and the brand new World of Frozen, but those three days are gonna be PACKED with opening weekend crowds. Like, potentially nightmare-level crowded.

IF YOU JUST WANT WORLD OF FROZEN: Maybe wait until after April 1 when the opening madness dies down a bit. Though honestly, with European spring break timing, it’s gonna be busy through mid-April regardless.

IF YOU CAN’T GET INTO WORLD OF FROZEN: Don’t panic. Anna and Elsa still appear in Disney Stars on Parade over in Disneyland Park, so you’ll see them even if the new land is at capacity or you’re skipping Walt Disney Studios/Adventure World entirely.

WHERE TO STAY: The seven Disneyland Paris hotels offer Extra Magic Time, which means you get into the parks early before the general public. For World of Frozen’s opening, this is gonna be CLUTCH. The newly renovated Disneyland Hotel is gorgeous (and literally connects to the park entrance), while Disney Hotel New York has over 350 pieces of Marvel art if you’re into that. Pick your vibe.

Our Take (The Part Where We Get Real With You)

Look, change is hard, and if you LOVED Frozen: A Musical Invitation, we totally get being sad about it closing. It was charming, it was fun for kids, and it had that cozy theater vibe.

But come on. We’re trading a 20-minute sing-along for an ENTIRE IMMERSIVE LAND with a boat ride, a castle meet-and-greet, water shows, shopping, dining, and a WALKING OLAF. This is objectively an upgrade.

Plus, with the new short film dropping in October and Frozen 3 coming next year, Disney’s basically screaming “WE ARE ALL IN ON FROZEN” from the rooftops. World of Frozen is the theme park manifestation of that commitment.

If you’re even remotely a Frozen fan, you need to start planning your Disneyland Paris trip NOW. March 29, 2026 is gonna be historic, and you want to be there when Disney Adventure World opens its gates for the first time. Book your hotels early (seriously, don’t wait), grab your park tickets, and prepare for what’s probably gonna be the most impressive Frozen experience at ANY Disney park worldwide.

The Musical Invitation is taking its final bow, but the Kingdom of Arendelle is just getting started. Let it go, indeed.
