Still refreshing Netflix every day hoping Wednesday Season 3 magically drops? Bad news, it’s not happening anytime soon. The show’s officially renewed, but between an actual on set injury and a script rewrite mess that halted filming, 2027 is looking like the real target instead of anything sooner. Here’s When Wednesday Season 3 Is Actually Coming
Netflix made it official on July 23rd, 2025, dropping new artwork right before season 2’s two part release that August and September. Showrunner Alfred Gough said at the time, “Our goal for Season 3 is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” adding they wanted to “continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.”
Filming actually started February 16th, 2026, in Ireland, with showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar marking it with a statement calling it their “dark delight to fling open Nevermore Academy’s gates once more.” Then things got messy. Eva Green suffered a nasty leg injury on set in late June 2026, and by late September, filming had reportedly paused entirely while scripts got reworked, with a source telling The Sun, “There have been some questions asked over the writing and the storylines involved in the latest scripts.”
Season 1 took about six months to shoot, season 2 took closer to nine and a half, so realistically we’re looking at a wrap sometime in late 2026, pushing the actual premiere to summer or fall 2027.
The Full Wednesday Season 3 Cast, Every New and Returning Name
Eva Green leads the new cast as Aunt Ophelia Frump, saying she’s thrilled to “bring my own touch of cuckooness to the Addams family.” Winona Ryder’s also joining as Tabitha in a guest role, reuniting with Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton in what’s basically a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reunion.
Other new additions include Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride) as Balthazar, Noah Taylor (Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders) as Cyrus, Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) as Atticus, and newcomer Kennedy Moyer as Daisy. Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Andrew McCarthy (St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink), and James Lance (Ted Lasso) all signed on for undisclosed guest roles too, along with British actor Oliver Cunliffe (Silverpoint, EastEnders) in an undisclosed recurring part.
As for who’s coming back, expect Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Sheriff Ritchie Santiago, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Evie Templeton as Agnes DeMille, Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, and Oliver Watson as Kent.
A few smaller names are in there too. Aidan Thornton’s playing Cole, and Christy Meyer (The Day of the Jackal, The Amateur) has an unspecified role. Also worth noting, Noah B. Taylor, who played Bruno Yuson before, is out this season, clearing the way for the newly cast Noah Taylor from Peaky Blinders.
What’s Actually Happening in Season 3 (Spoilers, Obviously)
Season 3 kicks off with Enid now a full Alpha werewolf, so Wednesday and Uncle Fester hit the road to find her instead of going home for summer. That trip takes them all the way to Paris, where filming caught Ortega and Armisen riding Fester’s sidecar motorcycle along the Seine in a scene directed by Burton.
Tyler’s not done either. Gough confirmed, “He will definitely be showing up again.” Meanwhile, Wednesday’s estranged Aunt Ophelia shows up in a vision, and there’s a creepy detail, “Wednesday must die,” scratched into a wall. Millar called it “a big part of Season 3,” connecting back to the show’s whole thing about family secrets.
Nevermore’s also hunting for a new principal after the job claimed two people already. Ortega confirmed the whole crew’s officially seniors this season too, opening the door for storylines about growing up and figuring out what’s next.
Is This the Last Season of Wednesday
People started freaking out about the show ending after Ortega told Esquire it was “coming to a head.” Millar shut that down pretty directly though, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “We’ll take as many seasons as Netflix wants to give us.” And even if the main story wraps eventually, the franchise isn’t going anywhere since that Uncle Fester spinoff is still actively in development.

Season 2 was massive, pulling in 50 million views in its first week alone and staying in Netflix’s global top 10 for 11 straight weeks, racking up 881 million viewing hours total. That viral “Dead Dance” scene with the original Lady Gaga track got choreographer Corey Baker an Emmy nomination, and the show itself won Outstanding Production Design at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys.
