Guests visiting EPCOT can once again find Mickey Mouse and several Disney favorites wearing patriotic outfits that only appear during Independence Day festivities, giving fans another reason to spend time around The American Adventure pavilion.
The limited-time character greetings have become something of a tradition, but this year’s celebration carries extra meaning as the country celebrates its 250th birthday.
Rare Character Costumes Return to World Showcase
Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto are greeting guests together in front of a patriotic backdrop near The American Adventure.
Instead of their traditional outfits, the characters are dressed in festive “Spirit of ’76” costumes inspired by early American history. Mickey and Goofy wear matching Colonial-inspired coats, while Pluto joins them wearing a patriotic sash.
The colorful backdrop is decorated with bunting, flowers, and red, white, and blue accents that fit perfectly with the holiday atmosphere.
Guests familiar with previous Fourth of July celebrations may notice that Mickey and Goofy are no longer wearing the tricorn hats that once accompanied these costumes, giving the familiar look a slight refresh.
Character appearances rotate throughout the day, allowing Disney to welcome as many guests as possible during one of EPCOT’s busiest weekends.
Holiday Souvenirs Go Beyond Photos
Disney has also added a collectible touch to this year’s meet and greet.
Exclusive autograph cards are available for guests meeting the characters, featuring signatures on one side and artwork honoring America’s 250th birthday on the other.
Chip ‘n’ Dale are also greeting guests nearby in their own festive outfits, complete with matching patriotic sashes and a decorated photo backdrop near the America Gardens Theatre.
Their autograph card follows the same commemorative design, giving collectors another limited-time keepsake from the celebration.

After dark, EPCOT once again presents the “Heartbeat of Freedom” fireworks finale following Luminous: The Symphony of Us (2023), giving guests an extended patriotic ending to the nighttime spectacular.
Spaceship Earth also shines with patriotic lighting effects during the evening, while Voices of Liberty performs special concerts celebrating Independence Day.
