Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration, which has been a part of Universal Studios Orlando since 2018, has been closed permanently. The longstanding show lit up on select nights with a celebration of music, water, and light that took you into the movies like never before. The nighttime spectacular had Guests seeing and hearing roaring dinosaurs from Jurassic World, feeling the adrenaline rush of high-speed cars from Fast & Furious, watching the mischievous antics of the Minions from Illumination’s Despicable Me, and so much more.

The show took place on the barges in the center lagoon at the theme park, but never had a set schedule.

For now, there will be no nighttime spectacular at Universal Studios Florida, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ideas in the works.

Universal was reportedly experimenting with drones for a nighttime spectacular just a few weeks ago, and it seems that Universal Orlando is working towards making this a reality.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get a replacement for Cinematic Celebration, and what this will look like once it’s completed.

A drone show might be another feather in the cap of Universal Orlando as it looks to make a run at Walt Disney World Resort in the coming years, especially with the highly-anticipated opening of Epic Universe in 2025.
