Universal Orlando Guests Have Just 3 Days Left Before 36-Year Attraction Closes Forever

Another Classic Is Being Erased

Time is almost up for one of Universal Orlando Resort’s oldest attractions.

After 36 years of entertaining families, a piece of Universal Studios Florida’s opening-day history is preparing to disappear permanently. The attraction has survived decades of changes across the resort, but its final weekend has arrived.

The attraction is Animal Actors on Location!, and its last scheduled performances will take place Monday, November 2, 2026. Beginning November 3, the show will be permanently closed, ending a tradition that dates back to Universal Studios Florida’s opening in 1990.

For guests visiting Universal Orlando this Halloween weekend, the timing means there are only three calendar days left to catch a final performance, including today.

Universal Orlando’s 36-Year-Old Attraction Is Almost Gone

Animal Actors on Location! has offered families a different kind of theme park experience for decades.

Instead of elaborate roller coasters, massive drops, or screen-based adventures, the show puts trained animals in the spotlight. Dogs, cats, birds, and other performers demonstrate behaviors associated with movie and television productions.

Universal describes the experience as a combination of live comedy, video segments, animal performances, and audience interaction.

The approximately 20-minute show takes place inside a covered outdoor amphitheater, offering visitors a chance to sit down and enjoy entertainment together.

For families traveling with younger children, that format can be particularly appealing. Not every guest wants to spend an entire day moving between thrill rides, and Animal Actors has provided another option.

But that option is about to disappear.

According to Universal Orlando’s official attraction page, the show will permanently close on November 3 to make way for a new experience.

That makes November 2 the final scheduled opportunity to see the current production.

A Piece of Universal Studios Florida’s Opening-Day History Is Disappearing

The closure carries additional significance because Animal Actors isn’t simply another attraction being retired.

Its history stretches back to June 7, 1990, when Universal Studios Florida first opened to the public.

Originally called Animal Actors Stage, the experience was part of the park’s original entertainment lineup. It later operated as Animal Planet Live before becoming Animal Actors on Location! in 2006.

Although its name and presentation evolved, the central idea remained recognizable.

Guests could watch trained animals demonstrate skills used in entertainment productions, connecting the theme park experience to the filmmaking world.

That approach was closely associated with Universal Studios Florida’s original identity, when attractions frequently highlighted movie production techniques and behind-the-scenes entertainment.

Today, Universal’s parks feature increasingly immersive themed environments, including elaborate attractions built around major entertainment franchises.

Animal Actors represents a different chapter in that history.

Its closure won’t erase Universal’s opening-day legacy entirely. E.T. Adventure remains operational, preserving another direct connection to the original park.

Still, losing Animal Actors means another experience dating to Universal Studios Florida’s earliest days will be gone.

Universal Already Closed Another Animal Actors Show in Hollywood

The Orlando closure also follows the retirement of a similar attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Hollywood’s Animal Actors production ended in January 2023, alongside the park’s Special Effects Show, as Universal prepared the surrounding area for future development.

The location subsequently became associated with the development of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, Universal Studios Hollywood’s high-speed outdoor roller coaster.

For years, the Orlando and Hollywood versions helped preserve a recognizable Universal entertainment concept centered on trained animal performers.

Now, the Florida version is reaching its own final curtain.

The two closures illustrate how Universal’s entertainment offerings have changed over time, although they do not independently establish that every comparable animal show has disappeared from every Universal destination worldwide.

For visitors who remember the older studio-focused attractions, Animal Actors is another reminder of how much the parks have evolved.

What Will Replace Animal Actors at Universal Orlando?

The biggest unanswered question concerns what happens next.

Universal has confirmed that Animal Actors on Location! is closing to make way for a new experience, but the company has not publicly identified the replacement.

There is currently no confirmed opening date, attraction name, or announced entertainment format for the future offering.

That distinction matters because a permanent closure doesn’t automatically mean the existing amphitheater will be demolished.

Universal could eventually reveal a new use for the location, but the official announcement does not establish exactly what form that project will take.

The Animal Actors closure is also part of a broader series of operational changes affecting the resort.

As Disney Dining previously reported, several Universal Orlando attractions are scheduled to be unavailable during portions of November.

Unlike temporary refurbishments, however, Animal Actors will not return after its final performances.

Universal Orlando Resort Guests Have One Final Weekend to Say Goodbye

For anyone hoping to experience Animal Actors one more time, the remaining window is exceptionally short.

Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, represent the attraction’s final weekend. Monday, November 2, is its last scheduled operating day.

Visitors should check the official Universal Orlando app or entertainment schedule before planning their day around a particular performance.

The permanent closure applies specifically to Animal Actors on Location!, not Universal Studios Florida as a whole.

And while Universal has already confirmed that a new experience is planned, guests will have to wait for additional information about what comes next.

For now, the immediate change is clear.

After 36 years, Universal Studios Florida is preparing to say goodbye to another piece of its original entertainment lineup.

For families who want to experience this particular piece of theme park history, the final countdown is already underway.

Since first stepping inside the Magic Kingdom at nine years old, I knew I was destined to be a theme Park enthusiast. Although I consider myself a theme Park junkie, I still have much to learn and discover about Disney. Universal Orlando Resort has my heart; being an Annual Passholder means visiting my favorite places on Earth when possible! When I’m not writing about Disney, Universal, or entertainment news, you’ll find me cruising on my motorcycle, hiking throughout my local metro parks, or spending quality time with my girlfriend, family, or friends.
