Universal Guests Stunned as Ride Line Extends Beyond Epic Universe – What the Heck’s Going On?

Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort has garnered significant attention as one of the most anticipated theme park openings in recent history. When it finally opened its gates on May 22, 2025, the park promised guests an immersive experience, showcasing attractions based on iconic franchises like SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, and How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. Fans were eager to explore these cutting-edge areas, each more exciting than the last.

Though the park has been widely praised for its stunning design and attention to detail, one recent experience left visitors feeling frustrated and, in some cases, shocked by the long wait times for some of its more popular attractions. The opening of SUPER NINTENDO WORLD was expected to be a crowd favorite, drawing fans of all ages into the world of Mario and his friends.

However, it wasn’t the attractions themselves that caught the attention of a recent visitor—it was the line for Yoshi’s Adventure.

Yoshi’s Adventure, a family-friendly ride that takes guests on a journey through the Mushroom Kingdom to find glowing eggs, has been described as a charming and fun attraction. For many, it was a must-ride on their visit to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. But for one guest, the experience of waiting in line was anything but enjoyable.

Reddit user firstjobtrailblazer shared their experience waiting in line for the ride. At first glance, the line seemed manageable, but as the wait continued, things started to take a turn. The poster noted that they were surprised when the line extended beyond the park’s boundaries.

“I had no idea the line would be this long,” the Redditor shared. “It was crazy! At first, we were inside the park, but then they moved us outside. We were waiting in an area outside of Epic Universe itself! The heat was unbearable, but at least they had fans to cool us down.”

It’s not unusual for popular attractions to have long wait times, especially during peak park hours, but to have the line stretch outside the theme park was an unexpected issue. The setup for Yoshi’s Adventure appears to be more compact than other attractions within SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, with limited space to accommodate the number of visitors eager to experience the ride.

While it’s understandable that high-demand attractions might lead to longer waits, the outside line created a logistical headache for both guests and park staff. The line, while covered, did little to shield guests from the Florida heat, and many guests, like firstjobtrailblazer, expressed dissatisfaction with the crowd management.

The inconvenience was compounded by a sense of surprise at just how quickly things escalated from a normal wait to a situation that seemed to stretch the limits of the park.

What’s particularly concerning is that Yoshi’s Adventure is a family-oriented ride, not typically the kind of attraction that people would expect to generate such a massive crowd. The poster shared their frustration, mentioning that the wait felt longer than expected for a ride that doesn’t exactly fit the bill of a headliner like Stardust Racers or Mine-Cart Madness, both of which are also in Epic Universe.

But this wasn’t an isolated incident. The comment section of the Reddit post quickly filled with others sharing their similar experiences. Many visitors to Epic Universe reported waiting in similarly long lines, not just for Yoshi’s Adventure but also for other popular attractions in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD.

One Reddit user complained about the overall design of the area, noting that while Japan’s SUPER NINTENDO WORLD had limited space to work with, the Florida version seemed just as cramped, leading to more crowding than many guests were prepared for.

A second Reddit user weighed in on the crowds with their own frustration, saying:

The line for Stardust Racers is the worst. I waited just as long for Express as the regular line. Once you are forced to put your belongings in a locker, you might think you are close…. Then the line then becomes one blended queue for another 40-50 minutes, express pass or not. It was INSANE!!!! The ride also broke down 6 times in the 2 hours I spent in line.

This all points to a larger issue at Epic Universe—the theme park seems to have underestimated the volume of visitors it would attract and overestimated its ability to manage crowds. While the park offers cutting-edge experiences with its state-of-the-art rides and immersive lands, it appears that Universal may have overlooked the crucial aspect of crowd control and operational efficiency.

Despite these frustrations, the overall reception of the park has been mostly positive, with guests lauding the quality of the theming, the food offerings, and the character meet-and-greets. Universal Orlando Resort has poured a significant amount of resources into Epic Universe, making it one of the most highly anticipated theme park openings in years.

However, some guests have pointed out that the logistics don’t quite live up to the hype, especially when it comes to managing large crowds in tight spaces.

With a growing number of complaints about wait times and crowding, it seems that the theme park may need to take action to improve its infrastructure. Many park-goers are already calling for better queue management and more efficient crowd flow to accommodate the high volume of visitors. For now, guests will have to decide if they’re willing to brave the long lines or wait for the park to resolve these issues.
