Disney Tears Out Tree of Life, Offers New Details on Replacement
Walt Disney World Resort has officially shared one of the first updates about Zootopia: Better Zoogether! since It’s Tough To Be A Bug! closed on March 16, 2025. The 3D show had called the Tree of Life Theater home since Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park opened in 1998.
In 2023, Walt Disney World Resort announced that It’s Tough to Be a Bug! would be replaced with a brand-new attraction based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia (2016). After two years, Zootopia: Better Zoogether! will open in winter 2025, around the same time as the theatrical release of Zootopia 2 (2025).
Imagineering has been tight-lipped about many details surrounding the new show, but a few exciting bits of information have come out. First and foremost, the original voice of Judy Hopps, Ginnifer Goodwin, will reprise her role for the attraction, and she’ll be singing an all-new song. Concept art hints at a new audio-animatronic of Clawhauser, the loveable cheetah, modeled similarly to the version seen in Zootopia: Hot Pursuit at Shanghai Disneyland.
On June 18, 2025, Walt Disney World Resort shared even more details about the upcoming Tree of Life Theater show. X (formerly Twitter) user @DrewDisneyDude posted an all-new show description straight from Disney.
“Join Officer Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and other favorites from the hit Walt Disney Animation Studios movie as they come together in a new, original story featuring stunning visual effects and interactive surprises,” the official attraction description reads.

Though it’s still a few months away, the new Zootopia show is part of larger ongoing changes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park has seen significant updates over the past year, including the closure of most of DinoLand U.S.A. for a new area called Pueblo Esperanza, inspired by the Tropical Americas. This new land is expected to open sometime in 2027, featuring attractions based on Encanto (2021) and a reimagined, Indiana Jones version of DINOSAUR.
