Disneyland California Leaves Damage Untouched Months After Violent Guest Incident

A Disney Parks fan and former podcaster recently recalled one of the most disappointing things they witnessed while covering Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, and Downtown Disney. The Southern California Disney park allegedly left guest damage to the Toy Story Mania! attraction untouched for months after the ride premiered in 2008.

Toy Story Mania! opened on Paradise Pier (now Pixar Pier) at Disney California Adventure Park in June of 2008, just days after its sister attraction opened on Pixar Place (now in Toy Story Land) in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort. The interactive 4-D ride invites guests into a friendly, carnival-game-style competition where their Toy Story (1995) favorites jump off the screen!

Redditor u/PhilosopherSharp4671 visited Disneyland Resort shortly after Toy Story Mania! opened and was disappointed to find that the Southern California Disney park wasn’t maintaining its newest ride. At the time, they used their Disney Parks fan podcast to “rant” about a hole that a violent or careless guest made in the queue wall.

“At one point, I kept bringing up a giant hole in the wall of the line at Toy Story Mania – shortly after the ride had opened,” the Disney Park guest explained. “It was a good size, like someone put their fist through the wall, and it was there for months!”

“I finally said on one show ‘That’s it Disney, if you don’t patch it, I’m going to show up every day with a newspaper, take a picture, and post it until you do!’ The next day it was fixed,” they continued.

The Disney Parks fan said they didn’t think their complaints led to the repair. Still, they were frustrated by how long a simple, quick fix took.

“Now, I have no grand illusions that our dinky little podcast got someone’s attention, and I’m sure it was just a coincidence,” they explained. “It’s the fact it took months to fix something guests walked past every day and was there like that for months right after the attraction opened. It took one night to fix.”
