Touring Plan for Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios is an amazing park! There are a ton of attractions and experiences to enjoy at this park. I’ve listed out a run down of an inclusive, fun touring plan for Hollywood Studios! Check it out!

1. FastPass Early

Any Disney fan will tell you to get your FastPasses booked as early as you can: 60 days out for resort guests and 30 days from your trip for off-property guests. This is key to getting in as much as you can in a stress-free, queue-free way. You probably want to get FastPasses for rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucer, Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, and/or Star Tours.

2. Early Magic Hours – Hurry to Toy Story Land

If you’re staying on property in one of Disney’s amazing resorts, you get the privilege of Extra Magic Hours. These are added park hours just for resort guests either before Park opening or after closing. It’s kind of like being Disney VIP’s. Since you get the Park basically to yourself before the masses come, I recommend hurrying to Toy Story Land. Right now this part of Hollywood Studios is crazy busy, and rightly so! It’s so cool! But it makes seeing and enjoying all of it kind of tricky. With Extra Magic Hours, you can likely do all the rides multiple times with little to no wait! Take advantage!

3. Get Your Star Wars Fix in Animation Courtyard

The Star Wars Bay in Animation Courtyard is the place to be for hardcore Star Wars fans. This experience is so incredible and fun you don’t want to miss it. Here, you can dive into the world of Star Wars, meeting your favorite characters like Chewbacca, BB-8, and Kylo Ren!

4. Try Not to be Inducted into the First Order

Throughout the day, the First Order from the new Star Wars movies marches down Hollywood Boulevard in a very threatening manner. This parade is super fun to watch and be a part of!

5. Have Lunch at a Quick Serve Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard

At the end of the famous street sits several awesome quick serve restaurants. These are great options for guests looking for a solid meal without being time restricted. There’s Rosie’s All-American Café, Catalina Eddie’s, Fairfax Fare, and Scoops! Now, there are a TON of quick serve places around Hollywood Studios, and all of them are good, but I chose these for their location based on your tour day.

6. Use Your Rockin’ Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror FastPasses

If your stomach can handle it, it’s probably time for your FastPasses! If you can, I’d take advantage of the single rider line, as it’s generally really short and allows you to get the best of both worlds with these two thrill rides. You get to jam out to Aerosmith while doing ridiculous corkscrews on Rockin’ Rollercoaster. And on Tower of Terror you get totally sucked into the chilling story, with some amazing views of the Park – before you plummet!

7. Take a Mid-Afternoon Break by Watching Beauty and the Beast

The mid-afternoon Disney slump is a tale as old as time. A day at Disney can be tiring and sometimes tough, that’s why it’s super important to take care of yourself by resting! Beauty and the Beast: Live on Stage! is perfect for this. This is a 23-minute break from the day that is also really fun and happy. It’s also right on Sunset Boulevard so you don’t even have to travel far!

8. Peruse Hollywood Boulevard

After Beauty and the Beast you might be a bit sleepy still. A great way to ease back into your day is to go shopping on Hollywood Boulevard. The shops are so fun and decorated – they provide a great opportunity to slow down and enjoy some AC and souvenirs.

9. Snack on Some Popcorn on Your Way to Star Tours

Once you’ve had your merchandise fix, you definitely need some popcorn. From Hollywood Boulevard you need to make your way across the Park to Star Tours. There are a ton of popcorn stands on the way, but there’s one right at the end of the Boulevard that’s a perfect snack spot for your walk over. By the time your popcorn is gone, you’ll be at the line for Star Tours!

10. Laugh a Little With the Muppets

After Star Tours and a couple pictures with the speeder, it’s time for a little comic break. The Muppets are right around the corner and ready for a great show! MuppetVision 3D is a classic fan-favorite. It’s a terrific chance to sit down and cool off, while laughing a ton with all your favorite Muppet characters. Plus it’s got a glorious 3 hour – I mean, minute and a half finale. After the show make sure to check out the gift shop, Christmas store, and character greeting areas out back.

11. Go Behind-The-Scenes with Indy

The second I read the word “Indy” I start playing the theme song in my head. Just me? Okay. The Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular is so cool! You get to see how all of the coolest stunts in the movie came to be, like Indiana running from the giant boulder or Indy and Marion running through the bazaar. It’s a little hokey, but super fun and interesting!

12. Have a Great Dinner

Once the Stunt Spectacular is over, you’ve pretty much made your way around the entire park, which means you’ve worked up quite the appetite. Hollywood Studios has a ton of fantastic sit down dining choices, like Brown Derby, Mama Melrose, or even 50’s Prime Time. Whatever restaurant you choose, you’ll have a great meal, and recharge for the night ahead!

13. Dream with Fantasmic!

Fantasmic! is fantastic. Whether you have a FastPass or queue for it early, Fantasmic! is a spectacular nighttime fireworks and water show held at the back of the Park. You get to sit and watch Mickey dream the night away, with the help of all his friends and your favorite Disney characters! This show is beautiful and magical!

14. End the Night with a Nighttime Spectacular on the Chinese Theatre

It’s been a long day. You’re tired and ready to climb into your nice resort bed, but the last thing on your Hollywood Studios tour is an amazing nighttime spectacular display on the Chinese Theatre! Whether it’s Star Wars, or celebrating movie magic, it’s a wonderful experience and the perfect way to end the day. Keep in mind, tackling both Fantasmic! and Star Wars: Galactic Spectacular can be very tricky if looking for good view of either show. Pick one you prefer and count catching some of the other as a bonus!
