This Disney Legend Is Finally Getting the Hollywood Treatment They Deserve
Hannah Montana fans have known for twenty years that Miley Cyrus deserved a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The show even wrote an episode about it. The only problem was a hot-dog vendor blocking Hannah Montana’s diamond during the Hollywood Parade of Diamonds.
Of course, that obstacle won’t be an issue for this star. Miley Cyrus is receiving the 2,845th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, May 22, at 11:30 a.m. PT. The star is in the Recording category, and the ceremony will include appearances by actress Anya Taylor-Joy and fashion designer Donatella Versace, with iHeartMedia personality Ellen K serving as emcee. Fans who cannot attend in person can watch live through the Hollywood Walk of Fame website.
The Hannah Montana Connection
In the second season episode titled Hannah in the Street with Diamonds, the show produced a fictional version of this exact moment. Miley receives a diamond on the Hollywood Parade of Diamonds, Hannah Montana’s parody of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which serves as comedic foreshadowing of the recognition she is now receiving in real life, two decades later.
The fictional version does not go as planned. A hot dog vendor sets up directly on top of Miley’s diamond, crowding out and effectively burying the recognition she was supposed to receive. The episode ends with the diamond somewhere underneath a food cart.
The real ceremony on May 22 is expected to be vendor-free, which is already a significant improvement over the fictional version. The parallel between a season two storyline about a Hollywood Walk of Fame star and the actual Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony that happened twenty years after the show premiered is the kind of detail that makes the Disney Channel feel like it was accidentally writing the future the whole time.
Why the Timing Matters for this Hollywood Star
The Walk of Fame honor arrives during a year already defined by Hannah Montana nostalgia. The show premiered in 2006, and its 20th anniversary has been a recurring moment of celebration throughout 2026. Cyrus starred as Miley Stewart, a teenager hiding a double life as pop star Hannah Montana, alongside Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles, Moises Arias, and her real-life father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Since the show ended, Cyrus has built a music career that has moved through pop, rock, country, soul, and alternative influences across multiple eras. She was named a Disney Legend at the 2024 D23 ceremony, recognizing both her Disney Channel roots and the career she built after leaving them. She has remained connected to Disney in recent years through Disney+ projects and a song recorded for Avatar: Fire and Ash in 2025.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce was proud to welcome Cyrus and that generations of young girls have grown up watching her evolve, finding inspiration in her journey and fearless creativity.
The Short Version
Hannah Montana wrote a season 2 episode about Miley getting a diamond on the Hollywood Parade of Diamonds. A hot dog vendor ruined it. Twenty years later, the real version is happening on May 22 at 11:30 a.m. PT. The 2,845th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Recording category. Disney Legend. No hot dogs expected.
It took twenty years, but the show was right all along.
