It is an unfortunate but apparent truth: Disney costs a lot of money.

Creating magic does not come cheap, and Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will definitely feel the reality of that when it comes to paying for a Disney trip. Paying for a Disney hotel, Disney tickets, food, merchandise, and add-ons can add up quickly. For many fans, the price is completely worth it due to the magic experience they earn.

However, saving money at a Disney Resort is more accessible than most people think. TikTok user @torok.coupon.hunter has shared a list of the things that Guests commonly waste their money on during their Disneyland or Walt Disney World vacation.

#1: Water Bottles

For $4, buying water at Disney is a pricey endeavor. In the hot Florida and California heat, Guests need to keep themselves very hydrated, and frankly, spending money on water is not the place to pay. Bring a reusable water bottle or get a free water cup from any quick service location instead.

#2: Disney Dresses

If you are traveling to Disney with you’re little prince or princess, buying a Disney outfit at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique can be very tempting. While this experience can be incredible, be WARNED! Many dresses here cost hundreds of dollars, which can be hard to fathom for a growing child. If you are looking to save money, buy a cheaper dress before your Disney vacation.

#3: Ponchos

Unfortunately, rain is a common occurrence at Disney Parks. When you are getting rained on, it may be tempting to buy a poncho in the Parks. However, ponchos at a Disney store cost $25! Plan ahead and purchase one for much less online before you’re Disney vacation.

#4: Park Children’s Toys

One of the most expensive parts of Disney is the merchandise. If you are looking to avoid spending big on toys, buy your child some dollar store, Amazon, or Target toys before you go. Chances are they won’t notice the difference.

#5: Genie+

While this debate is more controversial, many people believe that paying for Disney’s Genie+ service is a waste of money if you are visiting EPCOT or Disney Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World. Save your money for your Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studio days.

#6: Snacks

Food at Disney ranges in price, but it tends to be the snacks that add up costs during your trip. Instead of going for the Mickey pretzels, maybe opt for a refillable popcorn bucket. After paying the initial cost, you can refill for only a couple of dollars afterward. You can also bring your own snacks to the parks to save even more.
