The Robbery Unfolds

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just after midnight on Monday, September 15, 2025. Paddlefish, the iconic steamboat-shaped restaurant at Disney Springs, had already closed for the evening when an unidentified man entered the building. Investigators say the suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported, and it remains unclear whether any staff or employees were inside at the time. Detectives are still working to determine how the individual gained access to the property.

A Landmark Restaurant

For many Disney Springs visitors, Paddlefish is one of the most recognizable spots on the waterfront. The restaurant operates inside a permanently docked steamboat and is often praised for its fresh seafood menu and rooftop views.

The vessel itself has a long history. Originally opened in 1977 as the Empress Lilly, the restaurant paid tribute to Lillian Disney, wife of Walt Disney. Two decades later, it transformed into Fulton’s Crab House, which remained popular for over 20 years. In 2017, the ship reopened under its current identity as Paddlefish, operated by Levy Restaurants.

Disney Springs Setting

The larger Disney Springs complex has more than 150 venues, from shopping and dining to live entertainment. Security is visible across the property, but officials note that incidents like this are rare. Most businesses in the district shut down by 11 p.m., though a few remain active later into the night.

Law enforcement is asking anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
