‘The End of Oak Street’ Might Be a Secret ‘Flintstones’ Prequel, as New Information Comes To Light

The End of Oak Street (2026) is being marketed as a sci-fi adventure about an ordinary family transported back to the age of the dinosaurs.

Directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows) and produced by J.J. Abrams, the film follows the Platt family after a mysterious cosmic event transports their suburban neighborhood into prehistoric times. According to Warner Bros.:

“After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”

But after watching the latest trailer, we can’t help wondering whether Warner Bros. is hiding something. What if this is secretly a Flintstones prequel?

At first glance, the comparison sounds ridiculous, but in the latest trailer, as dinosaurs chase terrified residents through suburban streets, one young girl casually sings the Flintstones theme song. It’s more than likely just an Easter egg, but it’s enough to make you wonder.

After all, the Flintstones have always been described as a “modern Stone Age family.” And the Platts literally are a modern family suddenly forced to live in the Stone Age.

And considering Hollywood’s recent obsession with surprise reveals and shared universes, stranger ideas have actually made it to the screen.

Even Dino wouldn’t feel out of place. Jurassic World Dominion (2022) and Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) both leaned heavily into humans bonding with dinosaurs, so it’s hardly impossible that the Platts leave prehistoric Earth with one very loyal reptilian companion.

The End of Oak Street will be released on August 14, 2026. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor headline the cast.
