‘Stranger Things’ Feature-Length Project Coming to Netflix, Cast Revealed
Speculation about a Stranger Things movie has emerged online, which follows the recent viral fan theory dubbed “Conformity Gate.” The latest rumor is nowhere near as big as the “fake-ending” theory, which, in hindsight, felt more like a hoax. However, it does signal that the conversation among fans surrounding the divisive final season isn’t over just yet.
The question is, is there any truth to this latest rumor?

Stranger Things Movie Rumors and Speculation
Recently, actress Nell Fisher, who plays Holly Wheeler in Season 5, addressed the chatter in an interview with Absolute Radio (via TikTok).
“I have not heard anything,” she said. “I have not heard anything. I mean, I think it’s every day the internet comes up with some theory or other, but, you know, who’s to say.”
While Netflix has not officially announced a project along these lines, there is a strong candidate for what fans may be speculating about: the stage production Stranger Things: The First Shadow has been filmed for the streaming service.

That Movie Is Probably The First Shadow
According to Collider last month, producers temporarily halted public performances to capture the production with its original cast intact. Among them is Tony nominee Louis McCartney, who stars as Henry.
Filming the play allows Netflix to preserve the performances before any cast changes occur as the Broadway run continues. Public performances have since resumed.

The prequel, which debuted in London’s West End and later transferred to Broadway, tells the story of a young Henry Creel years before he becomes Vecna. It also features younger versions of familiar characters including Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, and Bob Newby.
Though unconfirmed, the filmed version will likely stream as a single presentation rather than an episodic miniseries, with a runtime of roughly two and a half hours (although performances vary). No official release date has been shared.
With The First Shadow on the way, fans may finally get to experience what could be the closest thing to a Stranger Things movie for now. Meanwhile, the 3D animated series Tales From ’85 is also heading to Netflix, arriving on April 23. There’s also an untitled live-action spinoff in the works.
All five seasons of Stranger Things remain available to stream.
