Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven Will Return in New ‘Stranger Things’ Chapter

Stranger Things has finally come to an end. The last episode of its fifth and final season premiered on Netflix on December 31, bringing the long-running story to a close.

But reactions to the finale have been mixed, with fans divided over the season’s overall quality and the lack of a more definitive ending.

One of the most debated elements, however, is Eleven’s fate.

While the finale suggests that she dies in an explosion that wipes out the Upside Down, her ultimate fate is left ambiguous during the epilogue, which has left some fans frustrated by the lack of closure.

The response to Season 5 has been so emotionally charged that hundreds of thousands of fans have signed an online petition calling for Netflix to redo the entire season with an “extended cut”. Meanwhile, many others are convinced that “The Rightside Up” was a fake ending and that a real one is coming to the streamer in the form of a “secret episode”.

Either way, whether Eleven is alive or dead, Millie Bobby Brown will not be returning in any future live-action Stranger Things projects. Doing so would undermine the finale’s ending, something the Duffer brothers have discussed in recent interviews.

But while the main flagship series has ended, the Stranger Things franchise is continuing in other forms.

A new live-action spinoff that will focus on the mysterious “briefcase rock” introduced in the series finale, is now in development. That show won’t feature any characters from the main series; however, the upcoming 3D animated series Tales From ’85 will include Eleven as part of its main lineup, although a new actor will be voicing the character.

Eleven’s next appearance will instead come through a new crossover project.

The asymmetric online multiplayer survival horror video game Dead by Daylight, developed and published by Canadian studio Behavior Interactive, has officially unveiled its second Stranger Things chapter, following the original downloadable content released in 2019.

A new trailer shows Dustin Henderson, Eleven, Robin Buckley, Steve Harrington, and Eddie Munson battling Vecna (AKA Henry Creel/One). Watch it below:

All the characters (including Vecna) share their likeness with their main on-screen counterparts, although actors Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Maya Hawke (Robin), Joe Keery (Steve), Joseph Quinn (Eddie), and Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna) have not returned to lend their vocal talents.

Here’s hoping that the game will fill the huge void left by the ending of the main series, whether you enjoyed it or not.

Stranger Things Chapter 2 launches in Dead by Daylight on January 27. For more information, visit the official website.
