We have some good news for Star Wars fans who are looking to visit a galaxy far, far away.
It’s been over 10 years since Star Tours – The Adventures Continue replaced Star Tours at Walt Disney World (although, if you’re like us, you’ve never actually called it Star Tours – The Adventures Continue a day in your life).
As more Star Wars films and TV shows have come out over the years, the ride has received a considerable number of updates. These have added new settings and characters to the attraction, which sees guests encounter a random selection of scenarios after boarding a StarSpeeder 1000 and embarking upon a space voyage gone wrong.
For example, the desert planet of Jakku was added to the attraction a month before the release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens (2015). Crait and Batuu were later added in 2017, while the ocean moon Kef Bir and the planet of Exegol, both of which appear in Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019), were added to the ride in December 2019 on the film’s release date.
More recently, in June, Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, Din Djarin, and Grogu were all added to the attraction, bringing the number of possible ride variations to over 250.
To help promote these new additions, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue limited the randomization of its experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Now, however, the ride has returned to a fully random selection that doesn’t always include one of the new characters listed above.
It’s not entirely clear when this change occurred at Walt Disney World Resort, but it is the case as of at least July 4, when journalist Brooke McDonald reported that the ride was back to its usual self.
New to me — Star Tours at Walt Disney World is no longer showing new scenes on every ride. We didn’t get any of the new scenes on our ride today (a walk-on so we’ll try again!). pic.twitter.com/wWYvIKfXzb

Beyond Walt Disney World Resort, guests can also experience Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disney Resort.
Beyond Star Tours, Disney’s Hollywood Studios also boasts other galactic adventures in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where guests can ride two attractions, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Star Wars: Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run.
While Rise of the Resistance has been met with great acclaim, guests aren’t as keen on Millennium Falcon – Smugglers Run. Some have condemned the land entirely for failing to live up to the franchise’s sizable hype by basing itself in a location (Batuu) we haven’t seen on screen before, instead of a familiar spot like Tatooine or Coruscant. Others have insisted that the land feels too stagnant and desperately needs a third attraction.
What’s your favorite combination on Star Tours – The Adventures Continue?
