‘Star Wars’ Prequel Gets Major Fix After Divisive Response From Fans
Star Wars is no stranger to divisive entries. You only need to look at the last two sequel trilogy installments and most of the Disney+ live-action TV shows to know this. But there’s one whose controversy seems to have been buried beneath all those entries.
“Star Wars Outlaws” landed in late 2024 to some very mixed reactions. While it certainly gave players an open-world adventure set in the faraway galaxy–a first for the franchise–for many, the game failed to meet the high expectations set by its Star Wars branding.
Fans and players alike were divided, mainly over the game’s graphics, which many felt were not up to par for such a high-profile franchise.
Despite this, the game performed well on global charts but fell short of its financial projections. However, Ubisoft isn’t giving up on “Star Wars Outlaws” just yet, as it’s set to deliver some thrilling new content for fans who’ve stuck around since its launch.
The latest DLC, titled “A Pirate’s Fortune,” whose teaser will premiere at the start of this year’s Star Wars Celebration (April 18-20), is slated for release in Spring 2025. It promises to reinvigorate interest in the game with new storylines, characters, and thrilling missions.
The announcement was made on the official “Star Wars Outlaws” account on X (formerly Twitter) on April 11. It read: “Tune in to get a first glimpse at what’s next for Star Wars Outlaws. Join us on April 18th at Star Wars Celebration to learn more.”
The expansion will follow the same protagonist, Kay Vess (Humberly Gonzalez), as she continues to navigate the galaxy’s criminal underworld. But this time, she’s not flying “solo” as the DLC will see the return of Hondo Ohnaka, the pirate who enjoyed many appearances in the animated shows, The Clone Wars and Rebels.

In “A Pirate’s Fortune,” Kay Vess teams up with Hondo to escape a dangerous gang of pirates and steal a treasure that could help him regain his former glory. The new story pack promises a mix of high-stakes action and exploration, offering players more opportunities to experience the underworld of the faraway galaxy in open-world form.
Ubisoft’s announcement of the new expansion almost coincides with the game’s first anniversary in August, and it’s clear that the developer is determined to build upon the existing foundation. For fans of “Outlaws,” “A Pirate’s Fortune” promises new adventures, familiar characters, and a deeper dive into the game’s open-world faraway galaxy.
It might just be the shot of adrenaline “Outlaws” needs to reignite interest and prove that Star Wars can still create unforgettable gaming experiences. Fans will get an early look at what’s next for the game at the Star Wars Celebration event on April 18, 2025.
