Tom Holland Spider-Man Replacement Swings Into Action
One of Marvel’s biggest heroes is temporarily grounded. Production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day — the fourth MCU solo outing for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker — has reportedly been put on hold after the actor sustained a concussion during an accident on a U.K. set.
According to The Sun, Holland, 29, suffered a “fall” earlier this week and was briefly hospitalized. Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios met on Monday, September 23, to assess how the incident might affect the shoot. For now, it’s unclear whether cameras are rolling again, though outlets suggest Holland will likely need at least a week of recovery time.
Despite the setback, the studio is holding firm to the movie’s July 31, 2026 release date. Brand New Day follows Holland’s prior trilogy: Homecoming (2017), Far From Home (2019), and No Way Home (2021).
But while Holland takes time off, the larger MCU machine shows no signs of slowing. Today, September 24, Disney+ launches Marvel Zombies, a four-part animated miniseries that officially joins Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Watch the trailer below:

The show pulls together a jaw-dropping cast of returning MCU names that include Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Red Queen, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart, Simu Liu as Xu Shang-Chi, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.
While Tom Holland is absent from the voice cast, 31-year-old Hudson Thames is stepping in once again as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Thames is no stranger to the part: he voiced the character in Marvel’s What If…? (2021) and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2025).
The Marvel Zombies trailer shows Thames’ take on the character in brutal fashion, including a scene where Spidey uses his webbing to decapitate multiple zombies in one motion. The series has been touted by Marvel as its most violent animated project yet.
So, while Holland recuperates, Thames’ Spidey will be keeping the world safe from the undead.
