Fans Say Goodbye to Iconic Attraction

Space Mountain at Disneyland Park, a beloved landmark known for its thrilling space-themed roller coaster experience, is set to undergo a transformative refurbishment later this summer. This temporary closure, anticipated to span approximately a month, is part of Disney’s ongoing efforts to enhance the overall guest experience at the iconic attraction.

During this period, Disney will be focusing on updating the lighting infrastructure throughout the ride to elevate the visual and immersive elements that have captivated visitors for years. One of the key areas of improvement will be the illumination within the attraction’s tunnel, where guests are transported into a cosmic journey through lights and special effects.

By modernizing the lighting design, Disney aims to create a more dynamic and enchanting atmosphere that will enthrall guests of all ages.

In addition to the lighting enhancements, attention will be given to revamping the flooring inside the attraction. This update is crucial in maintaining not just the aesthetic appeal but also ensuring the safety and comfort of guests as they embark on their exhilarating space adventures. The new flooring is expected to add a touch of modernity while preserving the timeless charm that Space Mountain is renowned for.

Numerous Space Mountain Locations To Be Closed This Summer

Disneyland Resort’s Space Mountain is not the only Space Mountain location to close this summer. On July 31, Tokyo Disneyland’s version of the attraction will shutter as it undergoes a massive renovation. This ride will not reopen until 2027. Disneyland Resort’s attraction will close just days later on August 5, and it is expected to reopen sometime in September.

While some fans support this closure, others worry that Disneyland Resort will not have enough rides open to sustainably entertain their summer crowds. This time of year will be especially busy due to the D23 event that will be happening in the resort. One fan says:

“PLEASE don’t have Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Tiana’s, Winnie-the-Pooh, the Railroad AND Mr. Lincoln ALL CLOSED the week of D23.

As Disney continues to push the boundaries of innovation and storytelling in its attractions, these refurbishments serve as a testament to Disney’s commitment to providing magical experiences that exceed expectations. The meticulous attention to detail in updating the lighting and flooring of Space Mountain reflects Disney’s dedication to creating immersive worlds that transport visitors to realms beyond imagination.

Guests eagerly await the reopening of Space Mountain, anticipating a refreshed ambiance that will elevate their next journey into the depths of outer space. The temporary closure for refurbishment only adds to the anticipation, promising an even more breathtaking and unforgettable experience when the iconic attraction reopens its doors to thrill-seekers and space enthusiasts alike.
